I would recommend LISA for anyone into dark comedy and feeling depressed. Nothing then feeling empty inside to feel like being alive. Another one I recommend is the Sacred Tears TRUE. It's more of a interactive visual navel, but it doe's a good job of story telling, character development, and a solid combat system.

Some of my favorites:

-Remnants of isolation (available in a commercial version and contest/deluxe versions)
-Millenium (Commercial game on Aldorlea Games)

-The Last Word: (Available in a commercial and a non-commercial version)

-Legionwood Tale of the Two swords

-Star Stealing Prince

-Wine & Roses

-Born Under the Rain

-Rootbound (IGMC 2015)

-Stock Trader Hiyo (IGMC 2015)

-Blacksword Chronicles (IGMC 2015)

-Escalia (IGMC 2015)
Plenty of talented people just in the community here that have made games available best thing to do is to jump in and play some and to leave feedback as well, developers love hearing feedback!

Other ones I haven't played but have heard good things about:

-Master of the Wind

-Manifest

Last Scenario

Exit fate

Aetherion (it's short, though)

Im very picky in choosing games to play, due to little free time I have a day. Many games did not pass my standards by looking at screenshots.

I did try Escilia, the storyline is mediocre. I lost interest after 20 minutes play.

Wow. Now tell us how you really feel.  :|    I would advice against typing like that man because you're coming across really rude, and besides some games take a lot more than 20 minutes until you get to the good stuff. Well I suppose if they are not fitting to your standard in those 20 minutes then you could be missing out on a potentially good game. :headshake:

It's actually totally justified to stop after 20 mins if the game hasn't grabbed you. You'd be justified in doing it in 10, really.

Game engagement at the introduction is very important, after all. If the game is doing that wrong it's not the player's fault. And sometimes you can simply tell the game is not going to be your cup of tea in that time (genre, themes, tone, etc).

Adding to the List:

Ib (adventure/horror game with feels)

Yume Nikki (not as a GAME, as an experience. It's a very trippy and strange thing)

Mad Father/Witche's House (horror/adventure, these are more traditional in your face gore and jumpscare bonanza)

April was a Fool (visual novel, not rpg)

And probably more I can't think of right now. I'm absolutely sure more lists like this have been made, tho, so peek around.

winning, don't tell people what to think: that's being rude. He stated his opinion and nothing more. Nothing is wrong with that.

Now for your question, I personally LOVE Half-Off Hero: The world needs savings (from the IGMC.) Aside from it I can't think of any that haven't already been mentioned.

IGMC is littered with them. Dig a little. Indrah has a list of the reccomended/not recommended and a lot of them are RPG maker games.

Hey friend I apologize if I came off that way, but are you not clearly contradicting yourself? Anyways, it was advice and according to Ginger's website the definition of advice is a proposal for an appropriate course of action. I checked because I wanted to make sure I wasn't bossing him around and being a hypocrite. :guffaw:  He came off to rude to me and maybe others? Anyways my post was not meant to incite an argument so lets just leave it at that. I agree that a game SHOULD hook the player towards the beginning of the game, but the amount of games I've played that get immensely better as you progress are numerous.  BD Some examples for me are Fallout 3 and Heavy Rain. One game I just played that I enjoyed was Tales Across Time by Critical Games.  http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/43514-igmc-2015-tales-across-time/

It's a fun game and isn't very long if you don't have much time.

I don't have high standards tbh, if I will start having high standards then I won't play anything at all.

I like to give a chance to every developer, the most important thing for me is to have fun (that's what games are made for), I don't like pretentious stuff and I don't expect people to put Shakespeare into rm games, but the games themselves need to have at least something good to be able to catch my interest. Anyway, here's some games I reccomend checking out:

Bleeding Moons (demo) - More like a visual novel\interactive story but very well made.

Cope Island - Don't let the screenshots fool you! it's a good game with an interesting battle system.

Incitement 3 (commercial) - It's a good game, if you are into sci-fi then you will like it a lot.

In Search of Dragons (demo) - Made by Indrah here, it's not finished yet but very promising and my favourite game made by her

Princess Princess - The first ACE game, a classic and a must play.

Remnants of Isolation (both free and commercial) - Another good game, worth playing.

Silver Town - It's hilarious and very fun to play.

Star Stealing Prince - The gameplay has some flaws for me but the storyline gets very interesting later.

Yume Nikki - If you're into horror and weird twisted things then you will love this.

I persoanlly liked games like yume nikki, rust and Ib, for me they are good (even if they are quite old...)

'To the moon' is more complex than it seems at a first view...

Those are the most memorable RM games I played ATM...

Yeah, nightmare fuel games mostly, but I liked them :p

Sorry, if what I said offend someone. I don't mean to offend anyone. I understand and appreciate how hard work game developers put into their games. However, sometime better take grain salt than sweet grape. Youtube video lesson," you got one minute to make viewers stay watching your entire video." To be on top of the line it has never been easy.

Adding to that, Escilia did pass my standards but not my interest on continue playing. I at least try it. Many other games I did not bother to even read the entire post after read part of story line and looked at the screenshots.

It would also help for us to advise you some games if you can tell us what genre/titles you liked and disliked.

A great game for someone can be garbage for another :rwink:

April Was a Fool was mentioned, but I believe that was made in Ren'py, not RPG Maker. It wouldn't count. :(

Nor would Mad Father as it is made with Wolf RPG Maker. Still good game though.

So if you don't mind if the game is made with Wolf RPG Maker or not, then I would recommend.

Mad Father

Game si can recomend but several of these are on steam.

The Albino Hunter. (Warning this game has quite a lot of humor and can be a bit difficult but good thing they do give you a warning if your going to be doing something for a while.)

The Data Hacker Series (Which is pretty good since it takes place in a mmo but had quite a storyline recommended to play them in order since Initiation and Corruption connect with each other while Reboot is the aftermath of those games)

Sweet Lily Dreams & Whisper of a Rose (Both are part of a series while the former is lighthearted the latter is much darker.)

One other game i would recommed since it was made in wolf rpg editor. One way Herorics and the recently released DLC Herorics Plus.

You should try demos in the early feedback section too; it's always nice to have reviews over there too, and some wouldn't take too much time to try out.

If you want a quick list, the best site is www.rpgmaker.net/games where you'll find them easily searchable by user ratings and other filters. Most RM games end up there. Other RPG Maker websites are available.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
