From what I remember, in order for a game to make the cut, it had to not have any serious, crash level bugs which rendered the game unplayable.

Also the game can't be using what is obviously another company's intellectual property, such as Chrono Trigger tile rips.

I'd be pleased if my game made the initial cut, at least, but would love if I received feedback from the judges about what I did right and not in my little, first ever game.

This is exactly my thoughts on the subject. :)

As stated by Deckiller in a "Disqus" comment, the score of your game and its screening status will be available on an ask-only basis.

You can ask about your game to the staff through their e-mail:

info@rpgmakerweb.com

But perhaps they'll only tell you after the results are in.
Wait... does this mean that we can all get feedback for our games if we ask? I'm curious.

I don't think that's right, as the Guideline page states:

"One point will be deducted for each game-breaking glitch"

Also, while it would be awesome, I don't think judges are writing feedback for every game they play. I'm pretty sure it'll just be prize winners that get written feedback, which is a shame, but understandable given the volume of entries. A top 100 list would be awesome though, and (I wouldn't have thought) embarrassing for anyone since that still means you're in the top third or so of submitted entries.

Also doesn't it state somewhere that they will use the score rubric only to determine the Top 3? I assume the games that obviously won't win won't get a score, therefore creating a Top 100 would cost them a lot more effort, especially to make a fair one. Plus how would you feel if your game isn't even on the list? Or at position 95? It's just better they don't, I think.

I thought that in the initial screening, if they started a game and it didn't even work, then it would be disqualified, regardless of the scoring rubric.  Also, some games did use copyrighted material; I saw one game that was based on another game and even used copyrighted characters and sprites in it.  Some other games that were submitted very early on were suspected to be constructed before the competition beginning.

So there are a few reasons why a game could be disqualified from the word go.

Really? Did you try with yours?

Here is the original comment from him: http://contest.rpgmakerweb.com/#comment-1438343270 (wait for the page to fully load before scrolling.)

I did not ask about my game.

I'm mostly interested if it is going to be awarded or not, and this will be public anyway.

Well it says everything except the prize winners will be an ask-only basis.  That doesn't mean that there's a numerical score for non-winners to ask for.  We could potentially ask if it passed the initial screening, or if it was generally thought to be a good game.

Same here. xD I'm really curious but I'm kinda scared to ask about the state of my game to find out it hasn't made the Top 3. Plus it's already the 31st here so we must get an announcement in the next 1-2 days, right?

I am anticipating that as well :D

Will be good to find out what the judges thought though, if it did get past the initial pass/fail tests :p

I don't think any of us have to worry about initial screening. I played all your games and they run just fine. :p

You guys are experienced and all, but I don't know about my game. I'm curious if it will make it or not...

So I guess Ars Harmonia will win, right? Come, 23:59 UTC!

Has it really been 50 streams? At this point it's just guilting me into pushing out a prototype. :kaoswt:

I should probably just bite the bullet and send it out, then go with my original plan to provide weekly updates.
I know it's just other small RM devs, but it still always feels legitimizing to have folks email me in private with a steam key, requesting a review of their game.:kaoluv: Look ma, I've made it to the big leagues. small edit: another email just came in. :kaoback:

Came back cuz of the sale. Got MZ. The System 2 advanced settings for UI are so frustrating, and I see we still hate pixel fonts. Marvelous.
Did another YouTube short. This one has like 1k views (or maybe 380? Analytics is being weird). Getting them zoomer views, yo!
