Any Shin Megami Tensei or Persona fans in here?

I got a late start with Persona 3 and moved to 4, though I never finished the latter and got most of the way through the former. I really enjoyed the games for their atmosphere and characterizations.

I saw the SMT x FE game but it honestly just didn't interest me D:

I couldn't feel the stylish looks of persona/smt games from it. It feels more like a falcom game for some reason. Maybe it's the art style.

Well, I'm sure you have a better understanding of art theory than I do, though I honestly thought it felt like a Persona game, it had the Jpop, the energy, the off the wall designs, the modern Jap setting...it looks quite unmistakable to me, even if the art style's somewhat different.

To anyone who's interested, hyped or not: Why don't you give this SMTxFE trailer analysis a chance? While sometimes it steps into the wild conjecture territory, it's very in depth and there are tons of things you will discover. Though it is kind of long, it's time well spent, I assure you. (assuming you care about the franchise, of course )

I knew of the trailer stuff, like the demons, the cheering demons ,etc. Also that one video isn't really completely accurate, e.g. he didn't notice the dude is Chrom.

I can't find the website that has it in a better comprehensive list but I'm not a huge fan of FE series either so...

But here's what I meant:

• The art style of Shigenori or eyeliner dude of SMT series are a lot more stylistic and memorable than the FE art.
• SMTxFE doesn't have the color style that Persona 3/4/5 exhibited. Blue, Yellow, Red respectively that makes it stand out from most JRPGs. There are hints of it but for me it's just a cluster**** of colors compared to SMT/Persona's focus on a single palette for style. I noticed that SMTxFE used the same as Persona Q's but it doesn't stand out anyway.
• It has J-Pop yes, but Locust Juice or Shoji Meguro j-pop isn't your ordinary generic Jpop. They are actually a lot more catchy and not irritating to listen to than the one in the SMTxFE trailer. Which is a huge deal for me. compare Persona Q's Maze of Life or Light the Fire up to that and you'll see what I mean. Even Persona 5's trailer music is something you can listen for 5 hours because of how catchy it is. People made 5 hour extends of it.

Here's an example and then listen to the SMTxFE and not feel disappointed. And this is a spinoff game. But considering the thematics of the game being about music is evil in this and about idols, it just plummeted my interest on it further haha.

Also that New York scene made me first think of End of Evangelion rip-off.

There's a lot of things that disappoint me, but these are the things that pop in my head right now. I just woke up lol.

I don't think it's going for a music is evil thing. I was thinking that maybe it might be taking a shot at the over saturation of modern time pop music, but who knows when it comes to the SMT games.

Me! A friend recommended me Persona series and currently I'm near of the Persona 3 ending. It is an amazing game that surprised me a lot. I have never seen before a game with this gameplay and personality combining social and RPG styles.

I've played quite a fair amount of Persona 3, I was right on the end grind when I left it (too much required grinding at that point and well.. Dark Souls 2 kinda came out).  I've playedup to the Kanji shadow bit on Persona 4.

The main thing I like about the series is how it manages to be a breath of fresh air without making a big fuss about how different it is.  It combines awesome music, a 'trendy' aesthetic with addictive social link and story sections.  I was never too fussed on the combat, I found it just above average and it was something I went through in order to get to my next slice of awesome pie.

Shin Megami Tensei is pretty great. The game I'm working on right now is very much inspired by the series, so I would consider myself a fan.

I've always had a big soft spot for both Persona 2 games but replaying them is kind of rough considering how many battles you need to stay on top of both experience and cards. And the build diversity is kinda nonexistent since Tech is so overpowered you want to funnel practically everyone into it.

I think P2 is probably the closest the games ever came to the Stardust Crusaders homage the spinoff was meant to be, in atmosphere and absurdity.
