Anyone know of a working Action Battle System (ABS) plugin for RMMV?

Hey Guys,


Ive been looking around for an Action Battle System (ABS) plugin for RMMV for a while now, but I haven't been able to find a working one. Essentially all I'm after is a super simple ABS that works like the NES Zelda 1 games. E.G you press a button \ picture and your character attacks. No targeting or anything like that. 


Does anyone know of a working one that they could point in in the direction of?


I've seen

• Quasi ABS which seems like it would do what I want, but it doesn't appear to be working anymore.
  
• Alpha ABS, but it is a lot more advance than what I'm after, and has targeting systems...etc
  

I've also seem heaps and heaps for other versions of RPG Maker, just not RPG Maker MV

Apart from what you have noted, I haven't seen any other ABS for RMMV to date. qABS I think for the most part would fulfill your needs though, even in its 90% completion state, no? If not, then what exactly do you need?

Quasi's abs seems to be exactly what I need, but it doesn't appear to be working anymore, all the last few posts are of errors. I tried getting the demo to run, but with no luck. Below is a link to the error I get. Also the main documentation link pages are not up and running, plus he hasn't responded to the main Quasi thread in a few months all this leads me to believe that he\she has probably abandoned this plugin.





If I could get it working, then this at least from the youtube video, seems to be exactly what I'm after and would be perfect.

The thing to keep in mind is ABS take *forever* to write, as in, years. That is why you haven't seen any that are considered complete, even one year after MV's release. It might honestly be 3 - 4 more years before a fully working ABS is made for MV, unless you wish to hire someone to write one (and that would be far from cheap if you went that route).

I have 1.3.4, and have some... version... (0.9924 it looks like, had to look it up lol) and I haven't had any issues running the plugin.


By no means am I wizard with his code, but if you'd like, you are free to provide me a copy of your project in it's dysfunctional state, and I'll see if I can't troubleshoot why its being dumb.


Note: hitting F8 should bring up a log of errors that provides more accurate details... or at the very least, what line the code tripped on to break it. That often points to the culprit. But still, send it my way and I'll take a look when i get a chance (next day or two).

Really? Damn. I figured it'd be as easy as writing the Javascript equivalent of in game events.


Surely there's a way to accomplish a painfully simple version this with events.


Also, as of 4 hours ago Quasi ABS is no longer supported.

Typically, the code length is in the thousands. I suppose in a way, it is like making in-game events, though. It just... has a lot more complicated steps, more loops, and overall more cogs spinning in the machine. I've thought about taking a stab at it, using the swathe of ABS that are out there for previous RM versions, but it gets pretty overwhelming pretty fast. There just is a lot to it.

Nope, afraid not. Plus, look at it this way. If writing an ABS was easy, then why don't we have many of them out already? After all, there is a classic saying "If it were easy, everyone would do it."

I put something together using GALV's Map Projectiles












I'm working on the sprite issue, but with some evented customizations this could work as a pretty good pseudo-ABS system.

There's not much to it, I just need to figure out how to offset character spriteset to fix the downward attack.


I'm not active with MV right now but when I'm at my computer I'll upload the sprites so you can see what I did and reproduce it for your characters. I'll also screenshot the GALV_MapProjectiles settings and the events I used. Once the sprite offset issue is fixed, the sprite sheets will have to be tweaked.

Yeah I saw that and I initially started doing something similar, however:

• Its very repetitive as it needs to be done for virtually every object in the game.
• It doesn't do a significant number of things like changing character sprites.
• There are alot of other things too
