I used to be in a thrashy-groove band back when i lived in Maryland. We sounded like a mix of Exodus and Slayer. I play guitar but am saving up for a bass.

Here's my favorite bands  :rock-left:   :rock-right:

 1) Devin Townsend Project

 2) Megadeth

 3) Dimmu Borgir (old)

 4) Metallica

 5) Pantera

 6) Amon Amarth

 7) Nile

 8) Death

 9) Behemoth

10) Testament

I got to meet Amon Amarth at Mayhem fest last year and I'm going to see Devin Townsend (with Animals as Leaders) tomorrow with my girlfriend  :D

Ofc! I'm very mixed with music though but I would definetely say that metal is closest to my heart.

I have too many bands that I adore, so I think I'll skip at making a list...

But I would have to say that Korn and Disturbed has been the 2 bands that shaped me a lot and got me thru my childhood. Love all kinds of metal though.

Sweden is a metal utopia as well with bands like In Flames, Entombed, Meshuggah, Arch Enemy.. you name it. So It's been easy to delve into the metal word on the homefront too :D

Funny **** right there  :headshake:

Awwwww yeah. This dino loves her some metal!

On a more serious note, I don't really keep track of bands, but I do really enjoy Metallica and some Korn. You will never get me to dislike this cover.

My girlfriend's favorite band is In Flames. She's seen them twice and she got to see Megadeth...I'm so jealous lol

But honestly, my favorite concert I've ever been to was Paul McCartney in 2011. Really awesome show.

Yep, love metal, though I personally am more into symphonic and power metal, and a fair bit of folk/pagan. Favourite bands are Gamma Ray, Iron Maiden, Dreamtale, Ensiferum, among a few others.

I used to be pretty big into metal though I rarely get the time to listen to music these days.  I used to be a big fan of bands like: Children of Bodom, In Flames, Nightwish, Trivium, Megadeth, Slayer, Judas Priest.  There's a long list...

Aww yiss, please! I listen to mostly melodeath, gothic and folk/pagan metal. Some light doom or such sometimes. :> Ensiferum, Eluveitie, Kalmah, Equilibrium... Kamelot also and used to listen lot of Nightwish. My boyfriend listens plenty of Dark Tranquility, Katatonia and Ghost Brigade and thus lately listened more of those as well. Volbeat is also an interesting case! Aaand my absolute favorite at the moment is Machinae Supremacy.

I am not super picky, when someone else puts music on. Anything goes in the background, but at home I mainly listen to metal.

Of course we do, we're nerds: we listen to metal to feel tough! :p

I haven't been keeping up with music lately, then again I was never too much into music, though I still recognize (and like) quite a few bands mentioned here.

Are Metallium or Symphony X still a thing? (It almost seems like I picked them intentionally for their corny names...)

^I used to listen to a lot of Symphony X. I still think they're great, but the ominous feel of their music puts me into a bit of a dark place, so that's why I don't listen to them so much these days.

I listen to some metal. A lot of the bands you already listed, included.

Though I'm more of a fan of your more melodic metals, and have a soft spot for what one may call symphonic and folk metals. So metal bands that use orchestras or various folk motifs. So, your Nightwish, your Eluveitie, ect. I also have a soft spot for female lead vocals. I don't like too, too much of the heavy screaming. I love it but not when the whole vocal track is that, because then I can't sing along. It's a nice punctuation, in my opinion.

Nobody's mentioning the fun stuff yet!  My faves are Mr. Bungle, Sikth (and Aliases), The Dillinger Escape Plan, Horse: the Band, and Dir En Grey.

I used to listen to all the metal bands you'd expect growing up, like Metallica, Sepultura, Pantera, etc. I don't listen to metal too much anymore but when I do, I mostly like metal bands that have something different to offer, that isn't just the standard metal stuff I've heard a bunch before. So bands like Opeth, Arkona, Epica, Therion. And I still have a soft spot for Nightwish when Tarja used to sing  :)

Prog Metal count? If so, Dream Theater are gods. I also love to listen to Tyr, Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Behemoth, Dethklok, Mastodon, and so on.

Haha well yes unfortunately prog metal, even though it is not that great, is still metal (jk :p it's just not my thing).  Pretty much my entire iTunes library is filled with metal bands, 2 of my favorites being Cipher System and Disarmonia Mundi, and subgenres being death metal and metalcore (only the actual good ones though, Fit For a King is a great example!).

Yup. Been in and out of metal bands since I was 14. My favorite project was a melodic black metal band. I can scream and shred like crazy.

Listening wise I'm REALLY picky about my metal. So I'll just list off a few, in no particular order

Dream Theater, Opeth, Devin Townsend Project, Testament, Faith no More (Got some fun stories about them.), Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Iced Earth (Barlow era please), Quad City DJs, Dimmu Borgir, Rhapsody, Sonata Arctica, Dark Moor, Type O Negative, and of course Celine Dion, the most metal mistress of them all.

I fell in love with Celine Dion when she released her classic "My Heart Will Go On (A Plate)". An ode to relationships among cannibals.

Boy if that existed I'd buy the **** out of it.

The Devin Townsend concert was awesome!! Monuments and Animals as Leaders were fantastic, but Devin was just epic. He is always so funny and his guitar had LED lights in them and had a built in fog machine. Last song he played was Kingdom and the whole venue went crazy!

Here's a really cool song I would like to share seeing lots of people here like the sort of "pagan folk" metal

Also check this out, very good band

@Androxine Vortex: Blut Im Auge was the first song that got me into Equilibrium. I really also like the acoustic versions and the piano covers found in youtube. The melodies just work great in also classical instruments.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
