Hi I'm pretty new at RPG Maker and I need help.

Well, I have it so the main character says some dialogue, the screen shakes, he jumps back and while he is jumping back, there's the Darken effect. I want an NPC to fade into screen where the Darken effect (where the main character was previously standing) was and to start talking... Preferably to fade in before the Darken effect ends so the NPC fades in while the effect fades out... but I'm not sure how to do that. Please explain it in as much detail as possible--I'm still not completely familiar with the program! Screenshots could be helpful!

Basically you'll need multiple event pages (one with the NPC picture, one without a picture) and use switches to decide which page (and which picture) should be active at any given moment.

Unfortunately that is not something that can be explained unless you have learned the basics of RM from the tutorials.

Please check the link in my signature. Have you already worked through the tutorials I listed there?

I would also play through the sample game "Crysalis" that can be downloaded from the "downloads>sample games" menu on the top-right of the forum.  When I was first starting I played through that completely and whenever I saw something that I wanted to do, or liked the look of, I would make a note of it and then see how it was done.  I found that a great way to learn things, and it made it easy for me to work other things out later on.

That's actually really helpful. And I have gone through the tutorials but everything with switches and variables still kind of confuse me, but I'll give it another read! Thank you!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
