First poster and all,, please inform me when I'm doing something wrong w

Anyways, is there a way to apply changes immediately to a save file without restarting the whole game all over again?

If you mean changes like changes to the database, then usually you're fine. If you mean changes like installing a new script, then usually no. That's because the script will be calling for information which won't be in the save file.

However... there is a script you can install which will enable you to add scripts and usually (though not absolutely always) continue without having to start a new playthrough. You can find it here.

If you meant something else, then you need to specify what changes you are referring to.

Since you can open these files in a text editor, it should be possible. Not sure how viable it is though, because these files contain some unknown characters.

Having re-read your opening post, I am finding it increasingly ambiguous in meaning.
On the face of it, you could be asking something like "If I make a change, e.g. in the database, do I have to start over a new game." No. And if you want the save file to contain that change, just load the save file and as soon as it has done that, hit save and close the game again. If, however, you mean hacking open the save file and inserting info (as implied by Poryg's reply) then you could be giving yourself a lot of trouble, which doesn't seem justifiable when you could use the first option, which would take all of a minute.

It would be much better to do stuff through events. Need some gold? Create an event that gives you gold. It's okay, you can delete it later. Need items? Create events that give you items.
And if you have dysfunctional saves due to adding new scripts that add savefile data, the best thing would be to begin a new game anyway, because editing this complicated savefiles is bound to bring some problems unless you know what you're doing.

If it's just scripts, then see post #2 where I link to a little life saver.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
