tl:dr: I feel like I'm fighting the ui and its presets too much, are there any plugins/options I can look into to modernize things a bit and increase functionality so I can move things around and be more liberal in my interactions?

My interaction seems very command-line based. I've played in that manga maker one by the same company....and they both share the same style as things like aegisubs, assdraw, and other dated software programs. Drop and drag functionality, ui freemovement, and other things common, just don't exist.

These are specific things I want to know if I can optimize/fix:
1. When I'm inserting and moving pictures, I have to guess what the location will be...highlight the script....then hit ctrl+r..wait 2.5 seconds...seee....go back....guess based on that information what the change should be....repeat. Is there a GUI method available? Or something more intuitive? Or am I stuck relying on hotkeys to streamline the guess-and-go experience? It's not even letting me center the images with the preset centering option, i have to modify with the x/y still.... and then consider and retype this information into any new image scripts applied and calibrate based on the numbers beforehand etc. Like why is showpicture the thing that makes me enter the default position? If I'm trying to get the picture to come from offscreen....I have to somehow get it positioned in the end value wanted and then position it over the correct amount so is just hidden. Then I have to do move picture and put it to the value I figured out first with the showpicture one. That's not right....

2. When applying npc movements I have to visually know the map and what they are moving into and the exact information and input it 1 command at a time tile by tile. The ui itself blocks my view of the map by default, making me rely on memory. OR I have to move everything over, but I can only move the current window I'm operating in and I have to close that window to move the underlying one. This is frustrating as you have to prepare and move things over ahead of time.

3. Is there a way to see the differences between tiles/items or make them all uniform? Like terrain tiles....some let you walk over them....some are impassable to normal walking but not certain vehicles...and some things are completely impassable (i'm guessing). I really want the ui to tell me the information wherever possible instead of making me remember preset differences. Or even better just make all tiles have the same properties, then let me as the user tell the game which ones are impassable/etc.

@Kes, I think the OP is talking about the UI of the editor, not the game itself.

1. Archeia made a plugin that will help you position pictures more easily. I personally find it easier to just do the calculations up front than put in a close guess, test it, try again, test it, another change ...

Plugins only affect the game when you play it. Not the editor. There is no way to change the editor's UI.

@Shaz Yeah, I thought that was the case, but wasn't sure if the plugin for repositioning pictures did anything else the OP wants.

@kerb When you say
then let me as the user tell the game which ones are impassable/etc.
You do just that by setting the passabilities you want in the database. If you mean something else you will have to be more specific. tbh, once you've been working with your tiles for even a relatively short time, you know which of your ground tiles are passable and which are not without having to check. e.g. unless you've done something odd in the database, grass will be passable, but water won't, and so on.

For getting NPCs to move from A to B - have you checked for a pathfinder plugin? I know such a thing exists for Ace, you put in the destination tile ID and let the plugin (script in the case of Ace) work out the route, taking into account obstacles, passabilities etc.
