I am trying to make an armour shop so that a player can select between accessories, head gear, shields, or body armour to shop from, but I am not sure how to create it/

Scripting, so if you don't know RGSS you won't be able to do by yourself

That actually depends on where you want these choices to appear.

One simple thing would be to use the event command "Show choices" and start different shops, depending on the choice.

If you want these options to appear in the actuall shop-scene (besides "sell" for example), then you have to script it.

Hmm. The way I would go aout it would be to make an event/NPC and use choices instead of Shop Processing. Have each type of armor be a choice. Probably would only be a "buy only" though.

edit: Yeah, what MagicMagor said. OTL ninja'd...

Please do not to underestimate events!

    @ Zayber

You don't really need to script to do that, I saw people making that kind of shop on rpg maker 2003 but I am not sure how : they used picutres and do in an event their shop.

    Here's an some examples :

Here are some tutorials about how to make a menu in event but you can do the same with a shop :

    1) http://www.rpg-maker...re-un-cmss.html

    2) http://www.rpg-maker...ses-du-cms.html

    3) http://www.rpg-maker...s-en-event.html

    4) http://forums.rpgmak...lda-esque-shop/

If you want more examples what you can do with pictures and events just play this game, Aedemphia > http://www.aedemphia-rpg.net/

For example, Sylvanor also did a stat points menu and a SBS in his Rpg maker 2003 game. His game is 100% custom made.

    [IMG][IMG]

Yanfly made a script to make easely an event shop if I am not wrong, the event shop will rely on a bit his script : http://yanflychannel...mon-event-shop/

    [media=]

Velsabor an RM2K game and it's translated in english. see, no script used for this SBS.

Scripts are useful, I love them because it's more simple/quicker to use a script than to code in event but again do not underestimate events.

I can think of two ways.

    1) Conditional Branch (already mentioned): This one is the easiest. Just display the choices you want, and have separate shop processing for each branch.

    2) (This is what I like to do) Have it so that in your shops, instead of speaking to the merchant to initiate shop processing, you simply walk up to the actual items, So you could have 3 shelves. One with a Helmet sprite or icon, one with a necklace or other accessory etc. etc.

But... if you want it to be pretty, a script would definitely be the way to go.

Seriously, even with script you need to make pictures yourself if you want something else than your usual window skin...

So whatever it will be in event or script the "pretty" side of a system will always come from custom made pictures.

Even Hanzo Kimura used his own graphics for his menu.

@Chaos17: thank you for your help, but when the OP's native language is English, and you're sending them tutorials in French, it's not going to help them.

Anyways, since the OP has already decided on what to do, I'll be closing this.

This thread is being closed, due to being solved. If for some reason you would like this thread re-opened, please report this post and leave a message why. Thank you.
