So I commissioned an artist for my game to draw custom battle sprites for my character

I didnt realize they needed to be a certain size, is there anyway, that I can get them in the game at their current resolution? Because if i
scale it down it looses all the data and looks terrible.

So Any help with this would be great, Id hate to just scarp this amazing artwork because i was too stupid to look up file size before hand.

How big is your art piece and how small do you need it to be? And what program are you using to resize them?

Immediate options that come to mind...
1) resizing in FireAlpaca or another free program
2) taking a screenshot of the art in the resolution you want

The character sprites are 2000 x 2000

they need to be small enough just so the character is the same size as the others in a side view battle

Im trying to use GIMP and the artist is trying to use photoshop but we lose way to much data

Im thinking there has to be a way to resize the picture to fit in the game and keep the resolution

Try this. I only normally use FireAlpaca, so the instructions will be in line with that program.

1. Open your picture in any image-viewing software
2. Zoom out so it looks like the size you want it to be and take a screenshot or use the Snipping Tool (assuming you are working with Windows)
3. Open a new canvas in FireAlpaca and paste the screenshot image in it
4. Use the Magic Wand tool, making sure to disable 'AntiAliasing' and select the background. You have to disable AntiAliasing, otherwise the magic wand tool will select some of the pixels in your picture.
5. Save as a .png

Hope that helps!

:kaojoy: Yosh!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you fix the problem? Some others might have a similar problem in the future and refer to this thread.

OH sorry

Pretty much I was trying to lower it to way to small and there was a setting I just had to click to scale it better

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
