Now that that's been established, welcome to my game.

This game takes place in an alternate universe, in a Japan-influenced UK. The three main islands are Ohanami: the human island, Mazoku: the elf island, and Kemono: the island of beasts.

Within the castle of Ohanami, strange occurrences have been happening for years. Now, however, the court is experiencing the most frightening of all. They have begun to die off, with no sign of injury or illness. They then become horrible, soulless dolls with an empty eyes and dangerous tendencies. Who created them and why is unknown, but feelings of fear and anger have gradually begun to rise among the castle's inhabitants.

These issues have occurred shortly after the deaths of King Hokori and Queen Okame, which brings the suspicions onto their only son and current king, Rikuto. An eccentric and non-traditional child, he is seemingly despised by all except for his lead servant and only friend, Shun. However, even Shun has begun to act rather suspiciously and has closed himself off more than usual.

When Rikuto decides to escape the horrors of the castle, more bizarre circumstances are introduced through the encounters of mysterious foreigners with their own stories to tell. He then begins to realize the true nature of his castle’s “curse”.

FEATURES

- tower-defense battle system where each character has their own unique role and the environment is important I was having some serious issues with that battle system, so now I have a new battle system with more territorial elements.
- sanity meter that adds a degree of suspense and frees the player for their own decisions
- custom mood-setting graphics and music
- many places are open for exploration

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Why are your characters all so pale?
A: They actually are not. The shade of gray on their skin dictates what skin colour they are. For example, Shun has a warmer gray to indicate that he is Asian. I decided to do this instead of colouring them normally because I wanted to give off a doll-like quality to them.

Q: How do you come up with these ideas?
A: They kind of come on their own, but it's usually draining whenever I have a flood of ideas.

Q: What's with the names?
A: The names all have some sort of meaning that is relevant to their character. For example, Yuutsu means "melancholy".

Wow, this looks cool! I would like to see a demo for it for sure! Also, the map sprites for your characters look a little too large. I mean, is he really as tall as the wall? xD

Yay! Glad to see your game post up! It sounds like much fun and mysterious content so far.
I like Yuutsu's image a lot (with the bruises... has he been stealing recently? ;)) Love your sprite too, and the shop menu!

Keep up the creative work and I'm looking forward to your progress!! :)

Little bit of update as to what I've been working on. Firstly, I fixed the size of the maps, for the most part. I also managed to get my screenshot saver updated, so now I can post some more screenshots. Currently, I'm working on the shop, trying to make it as interesting and lively as possible. I've added some "free samples" so that the player can test items before buying them.

Don't mind the creepy guys at the bottom. My NPCs seem to be forming a cult by the doorway (not really, though, my game isn't that dark). But yes, this is my potion shop. In the centre is an unidentified potion being brewed. And if you approach the counter, you can buy other, identified potions.
This map was made entirely with XP tiles.
Conversation system, so you can finally see what Yuutsu's dad looks like (didn't have a graphic for him before).

Yeah, I know, Yuutsu looks like an ant compared to his dad. Yes, he actually is that short.

And, in the event that this game gets any support (unlikely), here's the big obnoxious banner to put in your signature (tried to make it smaller, but it looked kind of weird).

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted here. Update time!
I kind of revamped the opening post to include more relevant images (and more features that are actually in the game). The battle system has been implemented and is playable at long last (an image of it is included in the first post). I'll be calling upon my playtesters to help me get it as good as it can be in the next while, and hopefully I'll have a public demo ready for the rest of you this year.

Woo, it's been a while! I made some changes to the battle system. It's been a long time coming, but I'm happy to announce that it is finally working! I'll be posting a thread shortly looking for playtesters for the demo, then once that's good, I'll make it public.

My thoughts so far:
Stuff to fix:
1. In the beginning, when you talk to the castle guards after they show up, there's a blank text box after their dialogue.
2. B's and H's look almost exactly the same, I'd suggest changing the font to something a bit more readable.
3. The villager in the market area with teal hair and blue clothes doesn't say anything, nor does anyone in the potion shop. I don't know if this was on purpose or not.
4. The character busts could change more when there is dialogue, who's talking to who can get a bit confusing.
4. "Check status" in the potion shop crashes the game with this message.

5. There's a lot of issues with buildings not displaying properly after you leave the village.

Stuff I like:
1. When you are looking at your character when moving in the castle, the floor is an optical illusion and moves.
2. I really like the atmosphere and the color aesthetic, it's melancholic and feels like the Kingdom is long past it's prime, slowly decaying.
3. The story so far is interesting, if a bit confusing. Unfortunetly I have no idea where to go after exploring the castle, village, village market, forest, and beach.

To get into the rest of the game, you just go to the tavern and interact with the pale villager (the doll) at the front.

Which building's the tavern? Also, there's now a permanent assassin in the dining hall, even when you are allowed to leave the castle.

Not permanent. It does go away a bit later on.
The tavern is in the market. It's the top left building.

1. In the tavern, a person with red hair is spinning in circles. I don't know if they are supposed to be drunk, but they are spinning pretty fast.
2. Asking the bard to play a song freezes you in place.
3. I don't know what the hell I did, but a wooden railing is now floating wherever my character moves. I beat the wyvern in the tavern, and was scrolling through the inventory categories. It disappears after leaving the tavern.

4.The cloaked person now has no clothes when I talking with them again, and I can fight the wyvern multiple times.

5. If you leave the tavern by the door on the left, you are stuck unable to move around outside. You can't even see your character since they're blocked by a tree.
6. The black flashing effect on the screen from the wyvern fight prevents me from opening the menu.

Easily fixed. I'm already making some minor quality of life adjustments, so I'll add that on there. Yes, the person spinning is intentional. I'll probably slow it down a bit, though.

A bit of an update.

- Fixed some bugs that were pointed out to me.
- Changed the font (for normal dialogue, at least.) The shops and stuff will still have the same font for now, because there's a lot of stuff that would need to be completely redone otherwise. Now it just means that there will be 3 fonts, but I think that's a pretty worthy sacrifice to make in order to help the readability.

EDIT: Forgot to say there should be a patch released soon.

I just found a huge exploit. If I walk to the end of the pier and press enter, I can get infinite gold.

just hopped into project recruitment... hoping to maybe find some artists to help with parallax maps and whatnot. I could do them myself, but I'm not really good at it so I'd prefer to stick to my strengths which is character art and SOME UI elements.
PRODUCTIVE DAY! I think I FINALLY completed all the items for part 1 of Fallen Feather, that includes the animations, the stats, the pricing, etc. for weapons, armors, key and consumables! all i need to be 100% done is write a few more descriptions (only 10 left out of the 40+ items) and to find some nice pants icons (dont ask lol).
