An apocalyptic RPG, where tomorrow can only lead to sorrow.

Story:

In the year 20XX, a solar eclipse appeared over Zepherus. Five pillars emerged, creating an impenetrable barrier. With the pillars came the outbreaks of Descents, monsters unlike any other. Even with the Lattice weapons, the advanced weaponry of Zepherus proved to be nearly powerless against Descents. Units of the Zepherus Guard were deployed to control these outbreaks, but the fall of Zepherus looms ahead.

Name: Claude Walker

Age: 26

Bio: Prior to his prison sentence, Claude Walker was a seasoned soldier with impeccable records of serving the Guard. Two years later, Claude is recommissioned by the Zepherus Guard to combat a new threat: the Descents. Why did the Zepherus Guard choose to rely on a soldier they chose to condemn?

Name: Florelle Sartre

Age: 22

Affinity: Rust Martyr

Weapon: Aerial Greaves

Bio: During the Rust Purge, rebellion leader Florelle Sartre was captured by scientists at a Council Rust lab. There, Florelle was subject to cruel experimentation before she was saved by Claude Walker. With their combined efforts, they ended the Rust Purge, destroying the foundation of the Zepherus Council. Accompanying Claude in his next mission, has Florelle truly come to terms with the Zepherus Guard?

Name: Luci

Age: 15

Affinity: Unknown

Weapon: Astral Spear

Bio: A young mysterious girl who appears from within Pandora. Little is known about her but she appears intelligent, offering insight on the situation, even calling Claude out on his bluffs. She eventually compromises with the Zepherus Guard for the distribution of her latticial weapon, the Black Regalia. Whether or not, she poses a threat has yet to be determined but for now she can be trusted.

Gameplay:

Gameplay will be a blend of old 2D JRPGs along with a visual novel element. Choices throughout the game affect the perspectives of the characters leading to different

interpretations and ultimately different endings.

Features:

As of now, only the dialogue and most basic of things have been implemented. I will periodically update the demo when I have future mechanics implemented/art fixes.

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
