I am attempting to do something with RPG maker MV that is quite a bit different than a 'JRPG' and am seeking 1 or 2 very serious and knowledgeable individuals to help with all facets of development and to eventually become team lead(s) if and when the project grows past the initial phase.
I understand the rules here require a 350 word synapses and I'll do my best but please keep in mind than many concepts and ideas are still being worked out and this is very early in the conception phase- Not to mention I would prefer to keep much of this 'under wraps' as it were until much farther down the road when things are ready to go public.
This, as of yet un-named project is an attempt to bypass using any of the rpg maker graphics (I hate anime) and make a more mature game (not T & A 'mature' as in crude and crass) that takes aspects of several genres and combines them Primarily this will be an "adventure" game with a huge amount of choice and consequence along with a slew of random events which ensure massive re-playability- Even the 'win' conditions and map will change each playthrough. Objects and weapons will be varied in quality/strength/rarity etc. (think diablo) and combat will be done via the RPG maker system with a few tweaks but still turn based - This will be a text heavy game with tons of decisions which will impact the entire game world. base building will exist in some form and hopefully a faction system with at least 3 factions.
The general synopsis of the story itself is something I prefer to keep close for the moment and will certainly be changed and adjusted based on input from team members- Suffice it to say this is a game that takes place in the near future when the earth is on the cusp of cataclysm . This will touch on modern day conspiracy theories and some fairly dark subject matter (and a bit of dark humor) There will be zombies and other creatures from Hell or some Lovecraftian nightmare.
There is no GDD as of yet because I'm still very unfamiliar with the software and what can actually be done (although ive already figured out how to make it do essentially what I need it to) and i'm still brainstorming tbh- However, the goal is to make a commercial quality game (we may release it free and use it as the basis to establish ourselves in order to Kickstart a second game that we can create with a decent budget) in 1 year or less.
Ive been thinking about this very seriously for the last couple years- i'm a hobbyist but have friends who are in the industry and have been learning through their successes and failures while they talk shop, have been asking questions and doing research. A couple weeks ago after a long discussion with my wife we've decided that its time to jump in with both feet even though this is going to monopolize almost all of my time - I have something here that I feel could really work and using RPG MV as opposed to Unity will save a ton of time and manpower especially since the game i envision is based off a pen and paper tabletop game I created, will be turn based and does not require 3d- even though this will have complex 'gameplay' the actual creation of the game does not require a complex engine - K.I.S.S. (keep It simple stupid) is my motto.

What I need-
Everything lol,... From artists making icons, to paralexx mappers, to graphic artists , musicians, scripters, etc.
However-
I dont need all that right now. In fact, the last thing i want is too many people and too many moving parts.

So...
At this time what I'm looking for is 1 (possibly 2) people who are fairly knowledgeable in everything and highly skilled in at least one area. Must be an adult , responsible and a hard worker- i'm not playing around with this and treating it as a hobby (although much of this is a lot of fun and I expect a fun environment) but am looking to take this project from conception to completion with the intention of turning a profit- Even if we use this game only as a proof of concept and quality in order to establish ourselves so we can launch a Kickstart and start the next game with a bit of a budget to play with and a goal of making a nice side income from our work.
I plan on putting in 40+ hours weekly (probably far more) but obviously I wont expect anything like that- However, please let me know what the average amount of hours you would dedicate weekly to the project (granted, real life happens and this is just a baseline) and try to stay true- Must be able to dedicate at least 10- 15 hours minimum so we can actually make progress- later on when we add team members they wont be held to any requirements but right NOW I am looking to find a person or persons who will eventually act as team lead once we do begin recruiting- So if this interests you but you cannot dedicate at least 10-15 hours a week there will be a place for you down the road- Just not at the moment.
Your duties will really depend on what you're skilled in and generally helping in all facets of developing the skeleton of a game (we'll be using lots of placeholders where needed as well) to a point where we can assess exactly how much help we will need to meet our goal of 1 year (the one year will start once we begin forming the complete team). After we have something solid to show I want to bring on talented individuals which you will help to lead, coordinate, assess quality and give direction.
The screens below I created to represent the style we are going for (still unsure about the 'comic book' or overly softened photos) and they may or may not be used- Much of that was made to experiment with but i'm pretty happy with the faces and have several more- But this is not going to be using very many of the RPG maker assets but rather things we make ourselves through third party programs- maps will be either done with HD texures of real photos (I have a map I started experimenting with but its very -meh- and I need to learn mapping alot better as its going to be a weakness for me) OR we will just go for an actual "road map" style map with areas transitioning you to an instance where the player would see a picture of the area and could click on the shop to go to the shop etc... I'm hoping to have more explorable HD maps but I'm not sure its possible to make characters who can walk on the map that will match the art style and still look fairly good- Thats all things that will be discussed... regardless, you can probably see that there will be lots of work to do.
EDIT- I'm sure we can write a script to accommodate actual 3d renders of the characters to explore the map- This wont be an issue regardless as I think I have it figured out. I still suck at mapping and need lots of help in the area of paralexx mapping with multi-layers. lots I dont understand.
Anyhow, I look forward to hearing from you. PM me any pertinent information and i will get back with you. Feel free to ask any questions here in this thread and I'll do my best to answer them.
I'm certain ive forgotten a ton of information but its late and i'm exhausted and my bed is calling my name.
Thank you for taking the time to read and consider.
