There are assets like RTP that have a lot of edits.

There are assets like DS, DS+ and DS Retro Sci Fi superb assets.

    There are @Celianna's magnificent assets.

We all know that these assets might not work well together as they are.

For instance I would personally love to use RTP with DS and DS+ but that wouldn't have a nice outcome if I would let the assets as they are.

Same goes for Futuristic Tiles with DS+ and so on.

So here is are a few questions that came up to my mind:

A] Can the artists collaborate to show us a way to make the assets more compatible using maybe an editing software like gimp, paint.net or something?

If yes consider this an idea.

B] Is this possible to happen in the first place? I mean make assets compatible.

    Edit:

Oh the agony. Can't wait for a reply.

    1] is a "a little" 2] is a "no"

I have made a little Tutorial, that helps you to use Ace tiles in XP - as you know.

There are different points that make it impossible to convert everything:

    a) the proportions. For example if you try to mix Germania and DS Tiles, no matter how much you recolor them to the same palette, the chairs of DS will still look like they've been made for dwarves.

    B) the placing of the light source and for that, the shading is different

    c) if they use outlines or none, and and and

The dirty way to get something drawn look pixelated is to indicate the palette and limit the color size - but you just can't easily let something pixelated look drawn.

A (also dirty) possibility is to shring the objects down a little and recolor them (for example when trying to use XP in Ace) but that doesn't work for all tiles.

There are reasons for so many different styles -

    a) RTP is not that easy to draw perfectly and it's also not that easy to imitate another Pixel Style. I like trying it and making some smaller tiles for RTP from scratch, but a whole set would be a pain. Fitting an existing style without editing is much harder than it sounds.

    B) It would be boring. All games would use the RTP style if all artists had chose that style in first place and we'd miss a lot of variety

    c) Everybody has it's own preferences. For example I can draw RTP (not perfectly, but good enough, hopefully) but if I can choose I'd do Pixel Myth stuff without any doubts. And so is it for everybody, forcing yourself to a style you don't like to create that much is never a good choice.

As said, there are some dirty ways to make the things match - limiting the colors and recoloring for drawn to pixelated and the other way shrinking and recoloring.

But that doesn't work for everything.

If you need more DS stuff you should maybe consider getting M+, there are DS styled tiles there or try to suggest the things in the Restaff Feedback because Palla and Caz mostly make things in that style. There is just no perfect way to convert the stuff and there are many reasons why there is more then one style.

@Avery thank you very much for your reply. :3

I understand. Yes it seems hard to merge things together.

M+ ? Never heard of it. Do you got a link to this assets ?

I  already got DS, DS+ and Retro Sci Fi though. :)

Yes Restaff is something I should consider using too.

    Thanks again.

If nobody else has to add something, instead of bump I will request close after three days.

Oh sorry, is it the acronym for Members Plus? Well guess what! You are absolutely right. This is an alternative.

Oh! Congratulations for becoming moderator by the way. ;)

    Cel made this post:

and had a topic, but I cannot find it. =/

    EDIT

    found it!

    http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/26268-which-graphic-pack-matches-with-which/

but it is a bit out of date I think.

Another approach is to look at the description on the sale page for multiple packs and see if they are described as "painterly-style like packs ABCD..." or similar.
