RPG Maker Forums

I'm looking for an experienced scripter as a "sounding board" for my planning, consultant when it comes to script design and as a helper with knowledge of the RM API when it comes to implementation.

There is no requirement to write the scripts for me - I only need someone to ask a lot of specific questions.

About me: I'm a programmer myself and have worked in C, Delphi and Assembler (among other languages), but not in Ruby and I don't know which functions to alias when I want to connect something into the RM engine.

Your tasks will be:

1) Discussions on what is how much work to do during planning (so that I can decide what and what not to implement)

2) Checking if I've forgotten something during design (on flowcharts and datasheets)

3) Helping with the RM API during implementation (where do I have to redirect or alias XY?)

I have only limited time to work on these scripts, so the work will be long-time (minimum six months) but low intensity - it might be that I have to stop working several times for a 1-3 weeks for RL reasons, and I would accept similiar delays if you have time limits. I can always work on other parts during such times.

The Avarion engine is intended to be a battlescript with several connected parameter changes and other options. I have not yet decided if I will publish it at the end or only use it for my own games.

Most descriptions are only local text files as of yet, but part of it you can read here:

http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/40084-battlesystem-for-avarion-games/

I also plan to use some of Enelvons scripts (for example external text and the multi-language-addon).

I would prefer to get one of the experienced scripters from here because I don't need someone telling me how to program, I need someone who can understand if I use professional programming terms and point me to the functions that can be rewritten to access the RM Engine. And perhaps telling me that RGSS has better options if I happen to use too much of functional C-based program techniques.

What do you get in return?

This is in recruitment because I simply cannot pay cash at the moment - but what I offer is worth a lot:

An unused gift code for the very first Humble Bundle RPG-Maker Bundle. Yes, the one that had about $370 of Degica programs and DLCs (Ace, XP, GCH, five games, four music DLC, six graphic DLC, six sampler DLCs and a few bits more, most as Steam version/DLCs).

Yes, I purchased several of those codes when the bundle was available a year ago for exactly this purpose of trading services ;) , and even if you have some of those packs you can gift them partially to your friends after claiming the bundle code yourself.

Interested scripters please PM me

EDIT:

The first game using these scripts will be non-commercial, I haven't yet decided if later games would become commercial or not.

And as said I haven't decided if I should make the resulting scripts public or not either.

EDIT UPDATE:

Planning postponed until RMMV

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
