I'm assuming that nobody gave it a shot yet, so, here's a walkthrough I wrote! The main part is not in there yet, but a spoiler free version to all three endings, as well as some fighting strategies are already written.

Click me for the walkthrough!

On a sidenote, I've also updated the original post! :)

Good day everyone!

I'm still unsure if anyone gave it a shot yet, so I don't know if people actually like the demo or not, but that's not a problem, I just improved it the way I thought was best this time around. Feel free to drop me any form of feedback or criticism, it's tough to nail down issues if nobody actually tells me they exist! :) So, this here is followed by a changelog, followed by various download links, with and without RTP.

Changelog Astralon Demo: Fall of Order v.1.1 (2)

[General]

- Rearranged the entirety of the final epiphany. It should no longer be incredibly easy to reach the

true ending.

- Rephrased receptionist dialogue to avoid confusion when you don't "loose" honor badges after "trading

them in" for prizes.

- The first time, you can only speak to the reception guy from below, to ensure the cutscene doesn't look

stupid. (Turns out I fixed this for nothing, because it wasn't possible to begin with. Welp, the more you know!)

- You now need more badges to progress, however, rooms potentially drop more than one at once.

- The Shady Guy now also provides you with money. The amount of badges you receive has also changed. It

now depends on the amount of beastgems you have, rather than just giving you a set amount.

[Balancing]

You can change the difficulty from the menu, under the "System" tab!

The game is now split between "Trivial", "Medium", "Challenging". Medium is basically the way it was,

but a little easier and better balanced, trivial's supposed to be an option for people that just want

to experience the story and investigations and don't much care for the battles, while challenging is

supposed to give you a hard time. You might need to gather a few items before taking these bosses on!

"Trivial"

Bosses have less health, less attack power. They also use stronger attacks less often.

"Medium"

How it was meant to be played. It's not too easy, but manageable without doing any leveling beforehand.

"Challenging"

Only one particular Bossfight was adjusted for challenging difficulty. If that goes well, I'll spend some more

time fine tuning numbers until it feels alright. Testing this mode rewards with a new monologue from that enemy,

revealing a few more details that hopefully make things less confusing.

Balancing is far from final as of now. Trivial is too easy, while Medium is a little bit too hard, while

challenging isn't thought out at all. A huge balance patch will come soon - hopefully.

[New Additions]

- Added additional difficulty selections that you may change at any time in the menu.

- Added a nun that heals your party whenever you need it. I thought since the INN is basically unusable,

you might as well get an alternative.

[Bugfixes]

- Fixed music playing in places where it shouldn't.

- Fixed a bug that hindered you to spell the letter "A" from either source.

- Fixed some typos in the credits. Also, added more people I forgot.

[Coming Soon(ish)]

Never played Astralon before? - Section to quickly explain events from the previous demo to avoid

confusion with the revelation scenes.

Don't know what to pick? If you've never played an RPG Maker VX Ace game before, you'll need the second link, if you have, choose the first one for a much smaller download.

I'll give updating this thread one last shot, sadly, not many have tried it yet.

Here's some voice acting for the final version of Astralon, done by the talented Sean Chiplock, who also provided the voice of Rayden in the demo.

Also, if you don't intend to play it because of reasons similar but not limited to quality of presentation, please let me know! I'd love to improve what I have here. In case you ARE interested in playing, you can find the most recent download link in the post above, RTP and Non-RTP versions respectively.

Have a wonderful day!

I played a bit of the demo (25 minutes), am I supposed to complete the Arena to progress right now or is that optional?

I didn't play all that long but I'm really liking the truth finding part (I think I've said this before). Also the combat has a good bit of challenge but could possibly require a bit too much quick thinking for the start of the game. Because of the ATB and the high amount of skills per character it's difficult to get the hang of things right away. Considering you start at level 10, maybe this isn't the very start of the game (just for demo purposes)? Either way, I'm enjoying it so far and will try to play some more later today.

Good day!

Glad you liked it so far! The arena is, where most of this demo will take place. Originally, this was only a combat demo, but I didn't want to release anything that blunt, so... this happened. I completely agree with the amount of skills you get - it does make things difficult, especially, because the battles are pretty fast paced. However, you can take your time checking them out, since "time" does not progress when you're selecting a skill or an item. The truth finding has been extremely extended for this demo, you'll see all of the relevant systems at least once this time around! :)

Also, should the battles be too hard for whatever reason at all, there are several ways I left in to tackle that, so nobody would get frustrated. In the menu, you can change the battle difficulty to make it way easier and there are also some ways to level up before facing anything dangerous. You'll probably find that place (completely optional. well, mostly, it doesn't affect the different endings) by exploring anyway though.

Thanks for playing, it made my day! :)

Haha, fair enough!
It's rather funny that your name is pretty close to the ingame pendant too. Just three letters off! Thanks for the compliment~

Good day everyone! Once more, there is a new demo on the horizon!

And boy is it full of secrets. I've recreated everything that I lost with the data wipe and remastered all of the dialogue, all of the maps and all of the sounds. Voice Acting is included in here too, both by Sean Chiplock and Andy Cowley. Without further ado - here you go:

Astralon: Start of Game Demo v.1.0

The one who first finds all 6 blue treasure chests, gets a clap on the back. Seriously though, it's extremely tough to find them all. Props to everyone who does! Also included in this demo are a ridiculous amount of dialogue choices and alternate dialogue. There's even a whole scene changing depending on how you solve a certain roadblock. (Yes, it changes quite a lot. Not just dialogue.) In the end, you'll have a meeting with a little someone, who tells you how well you've done unearthing all this demo's secrets.

(For all those who are going for it - the path down to the village is NOT filled with secrets yet. While there is a map that is needed for one of the blue chests, you won't find any sparkly goodies there yet. These will be implemented with the next update, when I've finished up all the shops, NPCs that run around and give some tips & hints as well as when I get that first dungeon done. It's a lot, but developement is rather quick right now!)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
