If you could choose the theme for our next tileset pack, what would it be and why?

I spent quite a while thinking about this...I'd like to see a pack focused on circus and street entertainers. Street performers certainly bring a bit more life to a town.

Man I want wild steam... One day.

What I would really like to see in the future to be honest would be a more ethemeral set of tiles, like floating rocks and glowing structures that kind of fade in and out of view. Reason being is the idea of such places fascinate me, whether the fade from dragon age, the world of dreams in twot or just plain depicting life after death in like a purgatory or something the idea of such worlds where distance and time don't matter has always fascinated me and a game based around such mechanics (or even just including them) seem like it's be very fun.

Wild Steam, for $30, that is a freakin' insane, I was expecting minimum $50 and wouldn't been surprised if it was even more. That will be mine.

While it wouldn't make a complete tileset, I would like some museum style tiles, things like statues and items that will go on shelves and in glass cases. And glasses cases of varying sizes.

Actually saying that, just a tileset expanding interiors is what I would want, including museums tiles.

Preferably not in the RTP style.

If you could choose the theme for our next tileset pack, what would it be and why?

Above the clouds.

I've yet to see something like this. Clouds and cloudy-type land features as a tileset pack. Imagine...? Land patterns and features would all be different stages of gray clouds, and different colors of clouds (White with tinges of blues, greens, or purples) Buildings might have an airy, ultra-fantasy look to them. Water would still be water, but imagine having the shores of such a cloudy land be... open sky? I've imagined lands like this ever since I was a small boy.  Plant life would be unique as well, unlike any other that grew on solid ground. Airy-looking plants... heh.

As for why, I've had great fascination for the sky. Not just any sky in particular, though. I've had special fondness for stormy, dark gray skies. They are beautiful to me, they make me happy, and they hold fond, special memories of childhood, like fresh bread baking in the oven, or childhood friends coming over to play outside. Then, when it rained, we'd go inside and play videogames and eat fresh bread and jam. <3

Ohh, those were the days. I wish I could somehow go back to them.

(If I won, I could only imagine what I could do with a parallax map guide!)

Greek/ Roman Theme and in particular the inclusion of the Colosseum.  For my game, but also because I've been reading the Percy Jackson series and I've always really liked the Greek/ Roman gods.

My entry: It would be a tileset with obscure things, like tiles to make houses out of lava or matches and other weird things.

EASY!! I would choose something ive suggested in "resource suggestions" thread before! A Grandiose Casino Themed tile set, with lots of glitz! (Assuming that you were to make object sprites to go with them) Flashing neon lights! Only, not TOO modern looking, so it could maybe be used with other packs. Plllllllz,plz,plz,plz! PLLLLZ!!! O_O !!....

And what I'd like to choose is packs for different races. I mean, we surely have nice fantasy setting sets, but I want some more for elves, dwarfs, or orcs and other races. You know, since their cultures are different, their towns and designs need to be different... from their bases.

...Yes, the last movie I saw recently was Hobbit. ;P

I will choose futuristic (even scifi) theme for next tileset pack.

Come on. There are loads and loads medieval and fantasy stuffs all around!

That being said, I would love to see an even bigger expansion of the DS tileset if possible. I know there are a couple out there including the new Sci-Fi retro one that was released. But I feel like the painted tiles still out weigh the pixel ones.

EDIT: Reading back, I would love to see AwesomeCool's idea be implemented. A Dungeon Themed pack filled with various different dungeons to use and combine. 

For example: You can have a basic Fire, Earth, Water, Forest dungeon as your A1-A5,  but have the B, C, D, and E tiles be things like cracks, small dungeon details, and puzzle objects to place in the dungeons for users to event around and create clever puzzles for the players to solve. Bonus points if we can make it a DS thing

Dreamscape. Like you were in a dream. And a nightmare to match.. I also VERY much want a creature/monster/bad guy pack for Sci-Fi stuff. We have great tilesets, music, sound effects, characters and backgrounds packs. Just no enemy's to put in the game. There is the DS+ pack. I just want one to match in the RTP style.

Yes, and I do think the number of futuristic tilesets we have are still lacking, compared to those of Fantasy and Medieval tilesets. Which is sad. Even the Futuristic faceset/busts/characters they have on their store look like something coming out of Fantasy instead of something Futuristic IMO....

Just for the sake of gauging interest, I'm joining the Victorian theme crowd (especially since Sharm is already working on a pirate set).

All of the themes mentioned here would be really useful.

For the next tile pack, probably additional material for medieval to victorian themed tilesets. After all we have so many of those and yet we still lack a lot of materials. Probably tiles and sprites to make a nice blacksmith/forge, weavery, brewery etc. Right now most packs focus on outside world with only a few tiles to make nice inside scenery.

I really like the idea about haveing a Victorian tileset. But what I'd like the most is a tileset pack like Wild Steam in a fantasy theme.

Like having fantasy pieces and being able to build your own tree, house, castle or whatever. 

I mean, do we really have a fantasy tileset that gives you a sense of wonder, like "wow this place is magical". I think that pretty much all fantasy tileset are just plain medieval. 

But that's jsut my opinion.

The RPG sounds pretty good! I'm getting jrpg nostagia feelings from them. The parallax guide looks like a definite must have.

As for the next set, a lot of people seems keen on victorian themes, but I feel like there's plenty of them available.

Since it's February here and also the month of Chinese New Year(and it being part of my heritage), what about a chinese themed set? Especially from different dynasties and folklores (like interiors of palaces, the dragon murals and reliefs from chinese temples, etc). Aside japanese tilesets common from the japanese community, (from my perspective) i don't really see a lot of asian tilesets focusing on other asian countries (especially asian countries that are not the big 3(japan, china and korea)).

those would be good, if there would be a complete set... Sometimes the problem when people make non-medieval themed sets is that it simply lacks enough objects to actually be used...

and yes, we do have lots of victorian or maybe medieval, though we still lack a lot of objects. Most packs just include new walls/ground tiles and a few objects for decoration, mostly just variations of simple objects... In the end, it only just changes how things look like, but doesn't add the capability to add new scenes.
