What I would like to be able to do is display a text field for a defined lenght of time, then make it disappear without the player having to click the action button.

Imagine the player walking through a busy town and hearing chit-chat in the background - no need to push spacebar, it should just sit there for...lets say 2 seconds, then proceed to next text bubble

Agreed.  It'd be helpful for cutscene dialog creation as well...

You can. There are text codes for waiting and a text code to not wait for user input before continuing with the next message. You have a few options when waiting:

You can use \. to wait 1/4 of a second.

You can use \| to wait one full second.

You can use \^ to make the message continue on to the next one without user input.

These are all in the manual, found in the "Messages" section. Please always check the manual before asking for help, as many issues people have posted about are answered in the manual!

The manual would be a great tool - if one knows exactly what to "search" for.

Sadly, when you go there and look for "can I auto-run text" doesn't really yeild results.

But - yes - I see now in the menu that pops up in the text edit field.

Thank you for your help.

actually - i've been messing with \| and it's not auto-skipping to the next text field.

It seems to be only if you want to display different lines of dialogue from the same character...problem is, the "text window" stays active in between those pauses.

What I have in mind might just have to wait for a plugin

Thank you Wizaerd for the tip!

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
