Hello there. I usually try and figure this stuff out on my own, but I'm kind of stumped here. Haven't used Rpg Maker for over 6 years. Anyway, I'm planning on using sorta 3dish terrain for my game sort of like The Way, if you've ever played that game.

In one scene, we see a character walking into the background. My question is, is there a way to have the character automatically get smaller the further he goes? I've looked at a few sprite zoom scripts, and it seems like it wouldn't be that hard to do, but it's just eluding me. Something tells me I could do it with script calls and something to check the character's current Y position, but the process of doing that is eluding me. Any enlightenment would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance guys.

One possible suggestion is to place smaller sprite images consecutively, so that with each step or few steps, you can just change the image. I dunno how well this would work though.

Interesting suggestion, I hadn't thought of that. But I'm kinda worried it won't be very smooth, but I can sure as heck try it out. I'll let you know how it goes.

RMMV
Are you having trouble getting a particular sprite-zooming script to work?

No, I can get the sprite zooming scripts to work. For example if I wanted a small sprite on a world map, I can do that just fine. My problem is I want to get a sort of "walking into the background" effect. Lets say the bottom of the screen is closest to the figurative "camera" and the top is the furthest away. At the bottom I'd want my character to be at 100% size at at the top he's be almost 0% at size and disappear at the horizon. Between those 2 values he would change size to be appropriate on the proposed line between 100% and 0%. So half way up he would be 50% in size.

I tired it and it does sort of work, but it does look kinda jumpy and not very smooth. I might use it as a last resort, but it's a tad too jumpy for my tastes.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
