Autorun Text Event Not Happening... What am I Doing Wrong?

I recommend looking at the attached images for further explanation, but if you understand by my context alone, any help is appreciated.


I am currently doing a challenge in VX Ace over the next few days, and the deadline is approaching fast. I am attempting to reintroduce myself back into the engine, but it's a stressful process to say the least. Meanwhile, I encounter this issue.


The goal is merely to have the four men have a conversation as they look toward the sky. When finished, all men should walk off screen, with the protagonist looking up. When the screen scrolls up, the title will be shown in the sky parallax.


Unfortunately, I cannot even get the conversation to begin. When I run the game, the selected sprite for the event (as seen in the third image) does not even show up, and the event doesn't play. I currently have it set to autorun. Is anyone able to look over my event and explain to me what I am doing incorrectly?

You have two event pages with the same conditions (no condition specified on either page).  The program looks BACKWARDS through the event tabs, and the moment it finds one whose conditions are met, including a page with no conditions, it makes that page active and stops searching.


I would say to turn on a self switch at the bottom of page 1 and condition page 2 by that self switch. But page 2 is triggered by action button, and has no graphic.  How is the player supposed to know they're meant to interact with an event they can't see?


If this is all meant to be one big cutscene, and you want the sprite changed to blank half way through, put all the commands on a single event page, and at the point the sprite is meant to disappear, use a Set Movement Route command and change the graphic to (none).  Then at the end turn on a self switch, and have a new event page with NO commands and no sprite, conditioned by that self switch, so it won't run again next time you come to this map.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
