In the game I'm making, I want the game to autosave at certain points. Explaining why would cause possible spoilers, all I need to know is how to do it. For example, making it so you enter a oneway door, and it autosaves so you can't go back whatsoever.

2k3 doesn't have that functionality.
I wouldn't be surprised if a patch exists that lets you, but a lot of old patches might not be compatible with the official released version. Either way, your best bet is to google it and be ready to do some digging. Maybe you'll get lucky.

If it can't how did the original Oneshot do it?

I'm not actually familiar with that game, but looking up, it says they used a modified version of the engine. In other words, they either used a patch of some kind or had enough programming experience to make the changes themselves.

Ooooh. So, where exactly can I get patches, and what do they do exactly?

They're like the plugins or scripts more modern makers use except rm2k3 was never actually designed to use them. They're basically third party programs that alter your game's files to do stuff it normally can't. You'll probably have to find the patch yourself by searching google and also an installer program that it works with (which the patch itself will probably tell you how to find.) You'll probably wanna back up your game before trying in case it breaks something.
Beyond that, I don't think we can help you. you'll probably find them on old fan sites and stuff, but that sort of site also tends to host ripped resources and other programs of questionable legality that we're not allowed to link to here. So good luck in your search.

You can open the save menu instead, but players may not save the game if they don't want to do so.

Hmm...there is the looping command I could use to bring them back...any way to know if they saved or not?

No.

But if you accept a suggestion, there are many games in the past with no auto save that warned players something like:

"There's no turning back from this point on, you really wish to save your game?"

I think that it might be a good workaround on your game.

Hmm. Sounds interesting.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
