Ironically avoiding things that bore you and changing to something else is why youre bored so quickly in the first place. Breaks are good but after 30 minutes is pretty soon. If you want to get things done train yourself to focus.
I somewhat agree with this.
The most important thing is the amount of work you can get done in a period of time, rather than the actual length of time spent on a task. So if you can accomplish a lot of work in 30 minutes and then need a break, that’s fine. It’s better than spending 2 hours on something, but then only getting about 30 minutes of work done in those 2 hours.
However, I still think everyone should train themselves to stay focused on a task for as long as possible. This way you can get even greater benefits.
Here are some other tips to avoid "boredom."
- Drink Coffee. Helps with that energy boost , and I love the taste of coffee anyway.
- Listen to music, whatever type you enjoy. This can keep you motivated, get you in the zone or further inspire you.
- Have something to motivate you. Be it another game, your accomplishment, a motivational speech, or whatever you like.
- Use a clock and set a time limit for a certain task. Nothing motivates you like being on the clock. And it gives you the advantage of staying on task and not wasting time.
- Splash cold water on your face. If you're feeling sleepy, or lethargic, this will wake you up.
- Take breaks. It’ll help you from burning out, and keep you fresh.
Other tips
- Be satiated. .Meaning not dying from starvation. It’s hard to focus when you’re hungry.
- Get sleep. In fact, get as much sleep as possible. Sleep plays a important role in productivity, efficiency, memory , creativity and overall general health. Basically don’t cheat yourself of it, even if you think you can go without it. It doesn’t work.
