I am asking this question just out of interest. As I'm building an engine for parallax mapping I intend to release to public, I always consider what to "keep" and what to "discard" compared to regular RPG maker.
Nevertheless, I'm unsure about gradients. It's true that having your HP meter go from black to red or MP meter go from blue to white can make the meter somewhat more lively, however I've never really given it any importance. So I'm asking you guys, what do you think about gradients - do I include them in the engine or do I scrap them?

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
