Battle animation not showing properly

I'm using YEP_BattleEngineCore and ctb battle system (side-view enemies).
I'd like a skill to have the same animation as the default attack. So I'm choosing for Animation "Normal Attack" but it doesn't show the normal attack (which in this case is a mace swing).
What am I doing wrong?

a few possibilities as a guess:
1) the weapon type of the weapon equipped doesn't have an animation set in the database system tab
2) the skill type of the skill used is set to SV Magic in the database system tab
3) no weapon equipped
4) an action sequence assigned to the skill is overriding default animations
5) plugin problem - I suggest testing to get the correct database settings in a new project without plugins, then use the same settings where it works in your project with the plugins.

So you've said that using the skill is not showing the correct animation. Do you have, within the action sequence, the command to use an animation at all? Or is it being overridden by another animation being utilized in the action sequence?

Maybe you can show what action sequence commands you have set in the skills notetag?

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
