    Battle Background Control

    Plugin by Tyruswoo

    For RPG Maker MV

    Download Link (DropBox):

    TYR_BattlebackControl.js

Be sure to keep the filename as shown above, in order for it to work.

Save it in your project's js/plugins folder. Then, open your project and load the plugin with the Plugin Manager.

    Description:

Battle Background Control provides options for how battle backgrounds are assigned to maps that use an Overworld tileset. You can change which image files are used for the battle backgrounds for each terrain.

This plugin is especially useful if you are using custom Overworld terrain, or custom battle backgrounds. You can select battle backgrounds that match your terrain!

With this plugin, you can even assign each terrain a list of battle backgrounds from which to choose, and each time an encounter begins from that terrain, the plugin will choose a random battle background from the backgrounds in the list!

Please let me know if you have any suggestions to improve the plugin!

    Your Adventuring Companion,

    Plugin Help:

The plugin's help content describes how to assign the plugin parameters, and is as follows:

Tyruswoo's Battle Background Control plugin provides options for how

    battle backgrounds are assigned.

By default, the plugin provides default behavior.

Modifying the parameters allows for behavior specific to your game. This

is especially useful if your game uses a specialized tileset, with unique

autotiles. For each autotile, you can choose the name of the image file

to be loaded when a battle is encountered on that autotile. This will

affect all random encounters on autotiles in the Overworld.

Autotiles are numbered beginning with 0, and proceeding from left to right.

There are eight autotiles in each row, for a total of fourty autotiles.

Autotiles are therefore numbered from 0 to 39.

You can also have multiple backgrounds for any given autotile. If you

enter multiple backgrounds, simply leave a space between their names.

This will select one of the given backgrounds at random.

For example, you could select the parameter:

    Bback1 Autotile 34

    And then type:

    Lava1 Lava2

Since you left a space between the two filenames, the plugin will interpret

"Lava1" and "Lava2" as the separate files they are, and will select one of

these two images at random. The image will be assigned to Battle Background

layer 1, when the player meets an encounter on Autotile 34, since that is

    the parameter we had selected.

If you want to weight a certain background to appear more often than other

backgrounds, simply enter its name multiple times, and it will be appropriately

    weighted to appear more often.

    ============================================================================

How to use the Map Screen as your battle background!

If you would like to use the map screen as your battle background, simply

delete all of the parameter defaults (and make sure you also have no

background listed in your map's properties). Now, since no battle background

is found, the map screen will be used!

v1.01 of this plugin also adds an option for the blur effect:

You can choose if you want the map to have a blur effect applied for the

map screen background. Find this as the "Blur Map" parameter near the top

of the plugin paramters. If you want the map to blur, leave is as "true",

without the quotation marks. This is the default behavior. If you want

no blur, change it to "false".

I just tried your plugin and it is giving an error. check out the screen shot. It looks like an excellent idea if I can get it working. What i have figured out is that if you have a pre defined battle back when you edit the map it will show only that battle back. If you dont have one it wont use your plugin options and will come up with that error.

Thanks for reporting this issue, cjewell77!

This issue can be fixed by making sure you save the file as the filename listed after the title.  If you right click and choose "Save As..." it will automatically load the correct title for you!

Thanks again for the report!  If in the future I can figure out a way to make it work without having the same filename, I will add an update!

That sounds like quite a nice Script. How you think about adding the function for multiple background layers?

Maybe with the option to change em multiple while battle --> animations in background

edit: I just added your plugin, but i cant c any features, parameters or even a help file. Its just empty to me in the maker :/

Those are great ideas!  I may not be able to get those soon, though.  But anybody is welcome to improve on my plugin, as long as I am credited for the original plugin!

Did you change the name of the plugin?  It works best when its name is left as the original name indicated at the top of the file:  TYR_BattlebackControl.  Also make sure it is saved as a .js file.

Let me know if this helps!
