Character won't equip a weapon, even though the weapon is the type his class can equip. (I may as well rename this thread to "Dr. Evil's 99 Problems Thread" ¬.¬)

Please go checking in the terms tab if you have two different weapon types "knife".

Something similiar happened to another user, and there the solution was that he had two identical weapons named "Katana" with different types, and tried to command-equip the wrong one...

If you have only one type knife, then check the inventory script or test if it works without that script as that is the most probable second cause.

and please use Alt-Prtscrn instead of Prtscrn to make the screenshot, that restricts the picture to the active window (your screenshots are hard to read, because they contain the entire screen, making the important area rather small)

so far, everything looks OK - I can only guess that's a problem cause by one of your scripts.

Make a copy of your project, remove all scripts from the copy and check if it works then - if yes, make another copy and remove the script one by one until you've found the cause. Then remove only that script from a third copy, to check if its a problem with a single script, or if it is caused by a script combination.

EDIT: Making a new weapon in a different slot, or making a different type to use instead gives the same result. Am I cursed?

EDIT 2: Attempted to contact the original creator of the EB script. Their forum has a ridiculous registration ritual. Attempted to register. Registration problem. Attempted to solve problem. Ended up getting a random person deleted and banned from their registration chatroom. Masqueraded as a different person. Got into forum. Contacting creator.

No. Scanning is not reading. If I had READ all of them I would have seen that. Scanning means picking up a few keywords here and there, and I can tell you've asked about 3 different things.

It only requires one. If you need every mod who posts to this thread to point the same thing out, let me know, and I'll ask Andar and Celianna to repeat what I said. Cel obviously only posted in the thread to reopen it at your request. Andar was probably more preoccupied with answering your questions. Just because they didn't both bring it up, doesn't mean it's okay.

I didn't pick up your screenshots because I scanned the thread (should I give you a link to the definitions of read and scan? Because they don't mean the same thing), because the one screenshot I did look at was the Actor one and it didn't have the others with it, and because the thread has gone on long enough that any early screenshots have a good chance of looking different now
And getting back to the problem at hand ...


Screenshots will be more helpful if you don't have thick red lines drawn over them. I think I can make out that what's hidden in the class screenshot is a parameter and another type of weapon to be equipped. It's best to not draw lines that obscure things, as the hidden bit COULD have been vital in solving the problem.


You don't happen to have Knife set up in two different slots in the System tab, do you?
