Battle Test not working ((RPG Maker MV V1.6.1))

Anytime I try to launch a battle test it brings me right to the main menu for the game and not directly into the battle.
Has anybody else experienced this?

i have, im gonna take a wild guess and say its outdated plugins that haven't been optimized for 1.6.0 let alone 1.61


EDIT: i misread your post. It doesn't start at all even when i launch the game. So my situation is different than yours. sorry about that...

Do you have plugins relating to battle?
Some of those can't work with the (abbreviated) launch of the battle test.
If you changed too many critical parts of the original battle engine by Plugins, you'll have no choice but to launch full game, battle test won't work in those cases.

It doesn't sound like something plugin related to me.

It sounds like either Scene_Boot.prototype.start or DataManager.isBattleTest are glitchy, or when you hit the battle test button in the editor, it's not setting that btest option correctly. My bet is on the last one.

The only battle plugin I have is the battle engine core. It also will no longer allow me to test a piece of script in the Event Editor.
It sounds like either Scene_Boot.prototype.start or DataManager.isBattleTest are glitchy, or when you hit the battle test button in the editor, it's not setting that btest option correctly. My bet is on the last one.
Is there any way to fix this?
Edit: I could list all the plugins I am using if that would be of any help?

If the test run in the event editor no longer works, that points to a problem in the editor, not in the project.
Does the event test runs with a new project? If not, reinstall your editor.

It 99% that's not properly updated project.
@RayKamiya has this problem too. He showed me his project and it was really old, something like 1.0 or 1.1 (because there was no version number in core files).
@Midnight Kitty Update your project by following regular update instructions

If you have an old project that needs updating, do the following:
  • Make a backup of your project.
  • Make a backup of your Generator folder if you edited it.
  • Create a new project or go to the NewData folder in your RPG Maker MV root (where MV is installed) folder.
  • Copy the new js files (RPG*.js and Libs Folder) and replace the one in your -old project.
  • DO NOT COPY plugins.js (the script file that stores all your plugin settings) or it will replace your plugin settings.
  • Copy the new index.html file to your current project.
  • Update gamefont.css just in case.
  • It should now be updated!
Or you can use this update kit, I created it for RayKamiya but i think it will help you too. Just unzip it and copy to your project root folder with replacement, but before that create backup of your project.

@Krimer & @Shaz & @Andar I will try updating it as that was the only major change since this started to happen.
So I just create a new project and copy over those files. I have my project backing up now so will do it once that is complete.
edit: Completed the update and it worked.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
