This thread will be locked for the time being.

If you have any questions ideas or requests, just private message me.

As for any questions about when it will be done, i will give you the answer Id software gives "when it's ready" lol

    Alright.

So i have come to realize there is one thing i am good at, and Ace makes it easy to create them.

    And that is monsters.

I am really good with photoshop as well as good old fashioned paper and pencil.

But the question is, which type should i make?

    Whats needed more?

I noticed a lot of people who're making games that use side view battle systems either have small simplistic monsters.. or ripped monsters from actual games.

I can't really work on both, i don't want to stretch myself out too thin... and i lose insperation and .. drive after awhile if i try and do too much at once.

So out of curiocity, i was wondering what the community was in need of.

Keep in mind, these monsters won't be animated.. they would be stills.

I have already been busy sketching some monsters from both point of views.. .. i kindof like doing side view stuff a bit more.

Anyhow, leave me all your thoughts.

If this is the wrong place in the forums for this, feel free to move it.

a lot of people are doing front view so I think more people would want to see a lot more of side view

One reason why I've stuck with front view is that there are a lot of excellent front view battlers, so getting enough for a good variety in a game is not a problem.  Thalzon alone has more than enough.  Although there are good side view battlers, there aren't actually all that many of them, and I don't want to repeat the same battlers for 'different' enemies.  So having a wider range of side view battlers would make choosing that a more viable option.

Think RMVX Ace's style of monsters... but from the side..

I'm basically drawing them out, scanning them in.. and using Photoshop to paint them and shade them and add finer details..

Right now i'm working on a ghost of sorts.. then i'm going to scan him in.. and color him and add the finer details and so forth..

He will be my first monster in a side view, so that i can show everyone here what i am going for.

Okay i gotta ask.. why the face?

It's like you're doubting me already..

Gotta have more positivity than that from folks.

Have some faith man, i mean i don't think anyone else is taking on this sort of challenge.

Is the painted style not what you were hoping for?

Pixel styled would take FOREVER and would eventually ware on my nerves, sadly.

I already tried the pixel rout.. the process took forever and the monsters i made looked HORRIBLE.

    I mean... really bad.

    I am easly discouraged.

    I guess it depends.

So then i guess it was excitment.

    Awesome.

I hope i live up to expectations.

Some people use the XD as a like "OMG man!.. Good luck" lol..

Or some times it's like "oh brother".

But i suppose it depends on who does it.

A little back story on what made decide on this.

I keep wanting to make a game... i got ace with intent to make a game at some point...

But i kept finding myself more enamered by the graphical aspect more than anything..

I keep testing my games over and over just to see the graphics used and played with...

So i kept noticing i was doing more with graphics and art than with anything else... so i stopped and thought "what sort of things could i just make for others?"

I noticed a lack of monsters.. specially side view.. and i thought "okay the community needs more of this".

So here i am drawing a bunch of stuff..

I don't think i will EVER get a game done like i want.. so may as well do SOMETHING productive for the community.

wow, that was really nice of you, thinking for the community and such... and yeah, a lot of people are looking for side-view battlers due to the enormous lack of them... :)

What ever i make would be for the community.. slowly getting the hang of it.

I'm starting to think this might have been a topic i should have started in resources.

Anyhow.. here's a little test run.

It's supposed to be a ghost... he's scalled down so that he might fit on the screen well enough with other monsters.

well, I must say that looks really usable... though I know that my judging might not be of any help as I'm not really good with artistic things...

You could ask a mod to move the thread.  If you just click 'Report' on your op, and ask in the message box, I think that's how it's done.

Yeah i kinda feel like it could have been better.

This next monster i think came out better..

I think it's okay to post this monster.. he's my own take on a monster from Final Fantasy 6.. but i think he looks different enough that i am not enfringing on copywrites.

I like how he came out more than the ghost.

Since he's not directly ripped from anything, i think he can be used.

I think i will just make an entire monster pack for people to use and post it when i'm done.

Kinda feel like this is the wrong part of the forum now that i have the stuff posted that i have posted so far.

What do you mean by my Op?

    Ahh okay.

    Well i did that.

I did not think the thread would turn into one in which i would be posting content.. but since it has become as such, it needs moved to the proper location.

For now i gotta get some reast.

I had no idea it was so late.

I hope i can find the thread when i get back on later.. lol

Keep up the good work! BTW, you can try making them in 3/4 view... This way that can be usable in both systems.
