Synopsis:
Battleship: Armada! is a Battleship game created in RPG Maker MV that includes local multiplayer as well as online multiplayer modes.

The rules are based off the classic table-top game, with a twist - the ships (Carrier, Battleship, Cruiser, Submarine, and Patrol Boat) have special active and passive abilities that make for a more strategic game than a typical battleship game.

  • Aircraft Carrier
    • Airstrike [active] - Fire on 3 spaces in a horizontal row
  • Battleship
    • Salvo [active] - Fire on 2 different spaces
  • Cruiser
    • Radar [active] - Scan for ships in a 3x3 area
    • Anti-Air [passive] - Blocks "Airstrike"
  • Submarine
    • Sonar [active] - Scan for Submarines in a 4x4 area
    • Submerged [passive] - Immune to "Radar"
  • Patrol Boat
    • [No abilities]

Controls:
The controls for this game are fully optimized for mouse/touch. This game is not designed for a keyboard/gamepad.

Online Mode:
The online system is designed to be simple - no login and no matchmaking. Simply choose a (temporary) screen name and create a lobby. A friend can search for your screen name or lobby, and then join your lobby.

In the lobby, the host may alter the amount of ships that the players will play with, and then start the game when both players are ready.

About this project:

  • This project is intended to explore what kinds of non-RPG games can be created in RPG Maker MV, as well as the possibility of online multiplayer play.
  • Personally, this was a opportunity for me to create and interact with servers and databases for the first time.
  • Some of the transitions/graphics may not be perfect, as I mostly focuses on the networking and gameplay aspects.
  • Whenever I played Battleship, I noticed that the Patrol Boat becomes the most important boat because it's so small. Whoever sinks it first usually ends up winning. What's up with that? So I added abilities to the other ships to balance it out.

Available Platforms:
  • Windows (.exe)
  • HTML5 (web) - Coming soon
  • Android - Coming soon

Project Roadmap (future features):
  • [ ] - HTML5 (web) deployment
  • [ ] - Android deployment
  • [ ] - Additional synchronization between players online

Don't worry :)

I'm not a legal expert by any means, but I know that game mechanics aren't copyrighted (whereas graphics/creative works can be copyrighted). All of the graphics in the game were either made by me, or were released under CC0 Creative Commons License (Public Domain) - royalty-free, no attribution required.

If the name becomes an issue for someone, I have no problems changing it, but I'm not worried since this is a completely non-commercial game just for fun/learning purposes.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
