Bed sheet passability/sleeping in bed

The tileset I'm using has a bed split into three parts: headboard, bed, foot + has a sprite for the topsheet.

I've set the topsheet to star passability so characters can be underneath it.

But when characters walk below the foot of the bed, the top of the character sprite (their hair) passes under the topsheet.

Should I be looking at the tile layers? Maybe I'm not used to using them yet. The topsheet is on Layer 4 and the bed is on Layer 3.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Character sprites have a few pixels of offset from the tile it stands on by default. So with your characters being a tile wide and a tile high they can still have their tops cut off by star tiles if they are close enough. You have three solutions I think.
1) Rebuild your bed graphics a bit to take the offset into account.
2) Remove the offset with a plugin snippet.
3) Use a plugin to handle the star tile layering.

This is the snippet I use for offset. My characters are formatted diferently, try setting it to 0 or something maybe.

For the third thing try TF_Billboard.

Thanks - I ended up rejigging the sprites in Photoshop and seem to have found a solution for now - however, I'll test your suggestion as well.
