I've been all over google, watched & read half a million tutorials on switches, and I still can't get this switch event to work correctly. I just installed VXAce yesterday with no prior experience in it, but was doing pretty well on the simple stuff until a couple hours ago I got stuck.
Here's what's going on...
It's a sample game. Plan on it being very short, just so I can get used to the system.
This is what the event sequencing *should* be:
1. Start game on the "Village Map" where there are 0 events.
2. Go into big house, talk to mother. "MomTalk" switch is set to ON. There is also a Self Switch A, and a 2nd page, which keeps Mom from repeating the same speech a second time.
3. Go back to Village Map. By graveyard, there is a "Player Touch" event that has a "MomTalk ON" switch condition.
4. Touch event. Cutscene. "Remember" switch is now set to ON. There is also a Self Switch B to keep the event from recurring.
5. Go into Inn to talk to a dude who only appears after Remember is set to ON.
That's essentially it.
I get completely stuck at steps 1, 2, or 3...
I finally got Mom to give her speech and then not repeat it via Self Switch. Unfortunately, the Graveyard Event is not cooporating. It should only appear when "MomTalk" has been switched to ON, which I have inbedded into the conversation with mom in step 2. However, it will either appear in step 1 when I first start a new game, or it won't show up at all ever.
I've tried adding and removing pages from this graveyard event, experimenting with any sort of combination, and it's not working. This is the set-up I have currently:
3 pages:
Page 1 - totally blank, no conditions or contents. This is with the intent that when I first log in the game, there are no events.
Page 2 - Switch 0001: MomTalk set to ON, with the intent of the player having already spoken to Mom (obviously). It has a graphic of a sparkle, and cutscene contents. At the end of the dialogue is 0002: Remember = ON and Self Switch B = ON.
Page 3 - Self Switch B condition, set to totally blank again.
This set-up causes the sparkle, page 2 Player Touch event to show up immediately upon starting a new game. I need it to start after MomTalk = ON.
I... just can't seem to understand what I'm doing wrong.
I have the MomTalk = ON in Mom's speech.
I have the MomTalk = ON condition for the graveyard event.
But it will show up regardless.
Any help would be awesome.
Again, I've looked up a fair share of Switch tutorials. I'm probably missing something extremely simple, but it has stumped me the entire day...
Edit: So apparently whenever I start up the game, all of my events (0001~0004) are set to ON... Not sure how to turn them back off?
