Hey guys,

I just picked up RPG Maker VX Ace and I have some questions,

First, tilesets and custom tilesets. When I make a new map, do I have to choose a set of tilesets to use and those are the only ones I can use for that map? For example, I recently downloaded the Steampunk tiles and put them in to the database, but there were not enough pages to fit them all under 1 tileset. What if I want to use them on the same map?

Thanks guys

There may be tileset expansion scripts, you could check the master script list. If not then you are limited to that one you choose for the map.

Could I fit them all into one tileset profile under the database? Or Would I have to split them up. If I could, how would I go about doing it right?
No
If you read that topic, it's said in the first sentences that those tiles are not formatted as tilesets but intended to be used with parallax mapping - and parallax mappin gis done in picture programs like Photoshop or GIMP, not in the editor.

You can reformat them to use them in a tileset, but they would only fit into the B to E slots of tilesets as they are not autotiles, and that also means that you can have a maximum of 4x16x16=1024 tiles in that tileset.

If you're new to RM, I suggest starting with regular mapping and experiment with it a bit before making your own tilesets. You also might want to follow the link in my signature to a number of tutorials and tips.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
