What's happenin' fourm?
I'm working on an RM2K3 game called Mist. It's semi-inspired by Earthbound/MOTHER 2, and exists to put the titular character Mist into distress.

The game is low-fantasy, and the plot goes as follows:
Mist is a random traveller who enters 'The Dark World' hoping to find adventure and treasure, but finds only a normal country. Undeterred by such frivilous things as logic, Mist decides to go on a quest to slay 'The Dark Lord,' (a.k.a the frickin' president,) becuase that's what 'Heroes' do.

I'm mainly struggling with production pacing. I'm unsure what I should finish first. The script? Graphics? Gameplay?
I was hoping that some of you could help and stranded beginner work out a game plan.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Imo gameplay>script>graphics.

Gameplay is most important cause that's where most of your players gonna be. If you want to make an epic spaceship game, but can't do it. Then you wasted all those graphics and scripts for nothing. So get your gameplay down. What you want, if it works, any workarounds etc etc etc

Scripts can change at anytime, but you need a script for the graphics so that's why this is here. Also you can base your script of your gameplay. Space battle? Time for a space plot and not running a McDonald's.

Graphics doesn't affect your gameplay or script pretty much at all, if you don't like the way something looks then you change it later or just pay someone to make it look good.

But also remember there is no sure fire way of doing it that always works. And it's fine to jump around between everything so you don't get burnt out.

Thanks for your reply, AfroKat!

If feel like what you said here makes alot of sense. I personally have been working on the script the most, because RPG Maker scares me a little bit, but as long as more skilled people like you are here on these fourms, it won't be so bad!

I'll start working on the gameplay now that I'm done with the first chapter script.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
