Sets descent A.I. to the enemies, like wise the game most basic enemy may haves a limit break that hits everybody for more damage or just counter some attacks whit healing spells (and sure that he will not uses it at random for nonsense heal). Gives each enemy a descent special attack that do more than cause damage to single battler. Gives each boss and some enemies gimmicks that turn hard, if not impossible to kill whit the Attack, attack, attack method, like barrier change or counter attacks whit annoy skills like DEF reduction cloud, changes form to adapts the situation or changes it resistances at random.
Some tips:
- Also give bosses hit-all attacks that cause a bit more damage that the regular attack. status causing attacks or something like that even boss that summon monsters or are protected by then
- Also sets several gimmicks dungeons ala Megaman Battles Network, some of those dungeons are pretty hard but coll to do, like the first Shademan dungeon in the MMBN4.
- Sets damage negation/absorption equips hard to find like in a secret passway, like you need a fire shield to deal whit a fire boss, so you will picks that shield and kill the difficult easily, then you well hinds the shield to keep it hard. (or just don't do the item)
- If would puts a overpower skill, sets some restriction, warming-up or side effect. Good to sets cooldown to most skills to prevents constant use like all time ATK up, ATK up, ATK up, kill whit single blow.
- Put low level enemies that still hard to kill whit high level party, like the slime (whit it low stats) take a slightly less to begin killed 20 levels after that the start of the game but still take time, by limits the damage or some kind of level system, via some kind of well develop A.I. (smarter enemies will think beater to deals whit a high level player like call for help or ambush you)
- Enemies that think beater will sure to begin a challenge, once they realizes that the entire party haves reflect will change to physical attacks instead of magical.
- Enemies that open the battle whit a annoy skill like Deathgazer from FF6 that opens the fight whit lv5 death to reduce you numbers are challenging foes and good to deal, maybe nit instant kill, but heavy damage, heavy status effect.
- Enemies whit one or more instant kill skills are a descent challenge to every player.
Never do:
- Please don't forces the player to grinds, it is so boring, instead just sets hard sidequests for some moderated reward, maybe gains some XP while doing and more after ends.
- Also don't puts "useful for the situation" equipment pieces that are conveniently placed in the dungeon (if the boss uses fire attacks, who will puts a chest whit a fire absorbing shield)
- Don't do spells that are easy to abuses at you advantage and kill insubstantially opponents like Meltdown from FF6 (Cause fire/wind damage to every battler, but can begin abused via fire shield that absorbs the damage.) or itens that kill the difficult after begin obtained like FF6 esper Ragnarock (due the fact that it teaches ultima, a game break spell due it monstrous amount of damage, slowly but teaches).
- Again talking from FF6, don't even do bosses that the difficult can begin killed easily via specific yet not so hard to gets equips (I kill leviathan using a entire team whit tortoise shield and the only time that he causes damage are via physical attack)
- Skill that cause massive damage easily brakes the game difficult easily.
