Best cheap DAW?

So I want to create some custom music for my projects and while I have the musical aptitude I do not have the experience to jump into a pro level platform and would like to have money for food at the end of the week so anything over $100 is off the table.

What DAW would you suggest I use?

Currently i am looking at the steam version of Mixcraft 8 which while lacking the features of the pro and recording versions of the software may be adequate for what I need. If anyone has used this program please let me know what you think.

If someone has a better recommendation please let me know but since mixcraft can also edit video it is currently my leaf contender

Definitely Reaper. It has a 60-day trial, too!

Reaper does look nice but since it lacks a decent number of loops and instruments you need to go on a wild goose chase to find free sounds if you can't make your own which I can't do very easily.
