I'm really interested in creating a full 2D platformer game. I know that the RPG engine isn't the best for that, though if there's a nice intuitive platformer script I'm happy to check that out too :D

Does anyone know of something that is pretty easy to use, for someone who doesn't know a whole lot about coding? It doesn't have to be as easy as RPGmaker of course (I don't think many dev tools are!)

Free is a major bonus, but I'd like to know what's honestly just the best and easiest to use! I hope this isn't in the wrong forum area or against the rules. Thanks for any help!

We don't actually support Q&A about non-Enterbrain engines here. So unless you're interested in IG Maker (which can be used to make platformers), we'll have to close this.

There is a script package that intents to turn RM Ace into a platformer, but it depends a lot on what you want to do with your game if you use that script. I don't have the link ready and therefore can't check the features, but because RM never was intended for a platform engine, even that script won't give you everything and you might be better off with a different engine.

It would only make any sense to turn RM into a platformer if you are interested in the RPG-features as well and want to use sidescrolling areas instead of regular maps. If you want to turn it into a regular action-based platformer then the result will probably be less than satisfying...

Sorry Shaz I thought the General area would be alright, I won't say another word about other game makers. :p But I am very interested in platformer scripts for Ace.

@Andar: Awesome I really wanted to just be able to make Ace into a platformer. I suppose I'll just look around for that a bit harder, or if you find you've got the link somewhere I'm excited to check it out.

well turning it into a platformer just like turning it into an action game, takes a bit of effort on implementations... and I do think the platformer side requires more effort than a still top-down action game

I understand that game making takes effort, but I've put effort into it and I really just can't grasp the Arc engine. So I'm just wondering if that is the only known script or if I can find another. If you don't think I can find another, then I guess I wonder how much that kind of script would cost to commission. At that point it stops being a general topic though and starts being a script request :p

Anyway, I think it's time to close this.

You have two Enterbrain options - IG Maker, or RPG Maker with a platformer engine.

As this is an Enterbrain forum, we're not in the habit of recommending competitors' engines.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
