Hello, I would like to know the best possible method (currently known) to upscale Ace resource files to MV. I heard Waifu is good for faces not so much for tilesets. I've read this thread:

https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/resizing-tiles-for-mv.45746/

...but it seems people still prefer to tweak that method. Is there any tool or process that has been discovered that can achieve better results?

Do it with Photoshop, Linear (preserve Hard Edges) mode

When upscaling, set interpolation to none. This method will work for simple sprites.

There is someone who made a batch script to do it more professionally. Hang on, let me find it.

Edit: It's called "RTP Scaler". https://rpgmakermv.co/threads/the-best-re-sizer-possible-mostly-for-vx-ace-to-mv-with-tut.337/
That program does a pretty good job, it doesn't handle transparent objects that well, and drawn shadows tend to be a bit lighter, but it works. Right now I'm performing the painstaking egregious task of erasing shadows on my objects. This tool helps highlight that, so it's a good thing I guess.

I find CS6 to be "less accurate" and generally looks worse using that method, but thanks for the reply.

Things like shadow is best to be redone after upscaled. I find that there isn't really a magically simple way to do them.

Sorry, "interpolation" is for GIMP users.

Yeah, I can never get where to post on here right, I think every single one of my threads was moved to a different section... There are many examples on this forum, I was more looking for the established standards of 2017 so to speak. As many seem to have opposing viewpoints.

Again, I'd post in the same topic as before, this thread doesn't seem fit for "useful development tools" as I didn't post any, nor am I particularly interested in just tools. But it seems the time-honored tradition of "whatever mod thinks at the time" continues on here sadly... In my humble opinion, it does not belong here, but whatever you're the mod.

Uhh, yeah... like I said in my previous post that method does not work for me, I have skimmed through the tutorials when I get a moment I will give them a more thorough look through.

Your opening post specifically asked about a possible tool. It is, therefore, not so surprising that this was moved to Useful Development Tools.

If you have a gripe about a mod action, can I remind you that the Forum Rules contain a description of the appropriate course of action.

Keyword in there is possible, not necessary, nor quite frankly wanted. But if it is a tool cool beans.

More of a general gripe, I guess my first post may have hinted at if there "might" be a tool. But not specifically a requirement for this awnser. Though I suppose anything counts as a "tool" even this browser, so I guess in a sort of sense I suppose it belongs here. In that logic, every topic belongs here. Since anything would require a "tool" to achieve anything.
Still disagree though, I cannot fix this and will likely need more topics moved. As there is seemingly no rhyme or reason to this system.

To clarify I am looking for the "best" most accepted method of upscaling tile sets. I'm pretty happy with face sets and Waifu. But not entirely happy with the methods discovered and presented thus far. But I will keep looking...

Perhaps you might like to ask yourself how other people manage to post in the correct place so that we have to move only a tiny percentage of threads. Perhaps they read the sub-forums' descriptions first?

You can't do the resize in the engine so the only other option is an external tool, I mean, it's not like you can manipulate the images without using a program. Not sure why you're hyperfocusing on that. This is definitely where it belongs and definitely where you're going to be the most likely to find the answer you want (which is almost always why mods move things, so that people can get more help).

My favorite tool for resizing is found in this section, Image Resizer. It's made specifically for pixel art but I suspect it would be useful for non-pixels as well. You can choose from a huge list of possible upscaling methods and even use more than one on the same image.

I don't mind scrolling through an endless board that rivals nexus mods (all its games combined) and it's descriptions, it's my understanding, and still is that I did not specifically (and still didn't) ask for a tool. I could spend hours or days theorizing where this conversation would eventually lead (to a tool) but my time is valuable, I have very few precious hours. You obviously have enough time to devote to this... and to derailing my thread. Which I would kindly ask you to stop doing. Your statistics don't interest me, at a quick glance you have twenty PAGES alone of moved content, to me, that's too much for an entire moderation staff, let alone one person. But that is my personal opinion. I would like to get back to the topic at hand...

Hyperfocus requires focus, I don't think a few replies falls in the realm of "Hyperfocused" maybe "barely passively interested" realm. This is a wonderful program, thank you. I missed that one. I shall try it out today.

I would like to add that your statement simply isn't true. My original method was to use a Script to get the assets to work in MV. You can also "scale" that way, and if I preferred that way this topic really doesn't belong here. Or using shaders, but you get my point (I hope).

You can use the Batch image manipulation plugin (BIMP) for GIMP to batch upscale.

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
