I linked a picture for a example, what is the best way to make graphics like the original gameboy?

A very low color pallet and I can see you using the pixelize filter quite often.

Gameboy only had a palette of 4 colours; white, black, and two shades of greys (or 4 shades of green if you're trying to replicate the original).  If you want to really try and replicate things then you can use a multiple of the 160 × 144 pixel resolution.

I've moved this thread to Resource Requests. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

I'm always unsure where these things go - you're asking for help making resources, so I'm putting it in Resource Requests. It probably could go into Art, Literature and Music as well. It definitely doesn't belong in VX Ace Support because it's got nothing to do with RPG Maker. You're just asking how to make graphics in a certain style, not anything about using it in a particular engine.

@Shaz:  In the past these have been put both here and in Art, Literature and Music.  For now I think either is fine.

@boldpaste2:  Pixelize filter?!  *shudders*  No.  Yuck.  That's worse than using the brush tool then reducing the colors.  The whole point of pixel art is precision and purposeful decisions.  You can't fake it, when you try it becomes really obvious.

@tearsofthenight:  Yeah, using 4 colors is important, it's probably best to use the same ones (either grey or green) as the original gameboy so you don't have to worry about getting proper contrast between them.  For anyone who's looking into making pixel tilesets I usually recommend Pyxel Edit, it makes things so much easier, especially if you're making tiles that need to repeat seamlessly.  When using such a limited pallet you have to pay really close attention to positive and negative space.  It's really easy for things blend into each other and become and unreadable mess.  You'll need to start with a mockup, not the individual tiles, so that things can be visually balanced with each other.  Once you get some stuff done you should post in the Resource WIP thread, feedback is really useful in things like this.  I'd also recommend looking up games that use similar art to what you want and use it as reference.  Get multiple so you're not too heavily influenced.  References are really helpful in figuring out how other people have faced the same problems you will be when putting together your tiles.

Edit:  Almost forgot.  GB tiles are smaller, 16x16 or 8x8.  I suggest working at 16x16 then doubling the size before you import it.  There's a program called MagnifyPNG that you can find on the forums that can be really helpful for that.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
