Hello again!

I've been having this small issue that's been bugging me.  I've tried to figure it out, but I have yet to do so.

Here's my problem.

*  Heroes enter a map, which leads to a event where they chat with the enemy for a few lines.

*  It leads to a battle

*  The player wins the fight.

*  It leads to another point on the map where another event takes place where they talk about what just happened.

Here's my problem though.

After the fight is over.  There's that 1 second where you can see all the characters on the map in that spot, before the transfer takes place to the new location and the next event starts.  I changed it so the event switch flips on right before the battle, so that one second the are all invisible, but you still see the location before the transfer to the proper location.  I tried a fadeout screen, but if I do it before the battle, then you do seen the combat transfer effect.  I tried doing it after, but I still get that 1 second of annoyance.

Any suggestions?

it wouldn't still be instant right after the fight...

you'd probably need to insert it somehow on the last lines of the battle end methods

Do a fadeout BEFORE the battle processing. Hopefully the battle will play as normal, you'll transfer to the new location, and can then do a fadein.

Just to add to Shaz's post, if Fadeout doesn't work, then tint the screen to black, and then back to normal afterwards.

Use the fadeout/fadein commands.

I did try placing the FADEOUT before the battle processing.  It was one of the first things I tried.

The screen does fadeout before the battle starts BUT due to the fadeout, you don't see the little battle intro swirl effect that leads into a battle.  You can hear it, but you do not see the effect itself.

I tired that to, and had the same problem.

If I check "wait for completion", the screen tints, and then I have the same problem as the fadeout.  You don't get the see the battle intro swirl effect.

If I do not check the "wait for completion", then it does go into battle and you get the combat intro swirl effect, but it appears that the counter "pauses" while in battle.  After the battle there's still that brief half second before the counter starts again and the tint goes into effect.

I also tried putting the fadeout in the battle command, but it then fade outs the battle itself!

do the tint, don't check wait for completion, add a wait time so that the battle will start halfway or something thru the tinting...

or lessen the tinting time

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
