One of the last betas has gone out (and needs to be hotfixed due to a game-breaking bug, typical!) - but in the meantime of testing, I did some research.


It turns out that bar two names, all of the character's supposed "fantasy" names are actually real names! :p


Think about that next time you see a "Jaredi" XD

Wow, nice game. I'm sorry for the redoing map part - I agree that the price is very expensive for nonexclusive tiles.

However, paying for custom tile would be even more expensive ^^;

The dilemma!

I'm thinking of adding a few sidequests and bumping up the exp curves so you can't level up so easily and will have to do some sidequests to get more EXP. I am wary of disadvantaging grinders too much, but to be fair, the game becomes quite easy to breeze through if you stay in one area for a long time, which suggests the exp curve is a little too low.


After analyzing a few other games, I came to the realization that it is not the length of the main quest that provides the bulk of gameplay unless it is a complex story - it is actually the sidequests and additional activities to do. Most of the game right now is actually following the main quest or adding onto it, so there is certainly scope for some more sidequests beyond the simple "boss" ones I have. These additional sidequests could also help flesh out the world as well as the story. Just because they are sidequests doesn't mean they have to be irrelevant to everything - merely optional!


That said, what sidequests do you like in a game? Or is there a sidequest you'd like to see in this one in particular?

Right, I'm back. I have a couple of weeks to finish this as quickly as possible - I'm going to go with what I have at the moment (adding a couple more small sidequests in for now) but I really want to get this onto Greenlight and various other distributors before those two weeks are up. Given that I have loads more things to do in the meantime, I'm going to be a bit hard-pressed to make it within this time limit I think but it is no big deal since even if I don't, there's nothing stopping me doing a couple hours a night on this.

Still, Greenlight isn't an instantaneous submission so I can still add things even after Greenlighting. 

In any case, yeah. Got a couple weeks off the full-time web dev job and then returning to it on a part-time basis in a couple of weeks. 

I really do need to fix the ending of the game though, I noticed a fatal error in the plot at the end >_>

As you may have noticed, the game is no longer on Greenlight. The post above has been edited accordingly. Additional (good!) news will soon be available! :D

I'd just like to take the time to thank you all for your support. I seriously couldn't have gotten this far on such a massive undertaking on my own.

I would also like to extend special thanks to my beta testers who helped me stamp out over 200(!) bugs altogether! That is how in-depth and detailed this game is - there truly was a lot to consider in its development, even if you may only end up encountering a small part of it as you play. The bugs were mostly small, ranging from conditionally-set move routes going wrong to some larger and more obvious ones like mis-set variables in message boxes, if you're interested. If anyone encounters any bugs after this point, I will be shocked! And they will be fixed, post-haste!

The game was fun to make, though I think I've spent a little more than a year on its development. The original IGMC version was across one month, then I picked the game up again last October. Add in a couple of months of polish and bugfixing and publicity to that and you have November to December. So yes, a year and about three months I would say.

I am still developing with RM, and have since moved onto RMMV. Already, from just playing around with concepts, I can already tell that my next game will be a lot more dynamic and very different to what I've made in the past. I love the possibilities MV brings, now that what I have in mind is much easier to implement.

I thank you all once again! I hope you enjoy the game!
