Thanks for the positive feedback! I'm definately excited that the off-hand humor and theme of the game is being enjoyed.
I see that they can also speak in first person and with correct grammar or is this intentional?
Yeah it is haha, it's part of Black Cat and also Yellow Duck's personality.
First things first, you need a freaking warning somewhere that this game contains graphic content and such... because I mistook this game for a mostly lighthearted comedic game... but it's pretty much the most graphically violent rm game I've played in recent memory. Seriously, especially considering the game is about cute little animals there should be some kind of warning, the contrast will be powerful enough even with a heads up.
Thanks for the elaborate feedback! I definately was happy it caught you off-guard, but I will in the final release provide a warning.
Combat is so-so, I didn't have to use any items and really didn't need to do much other than spam attacks on all the enemies other than the first ogre you fight alone as Black Cat. I mean it isn't bad, but it's not extraordinary either. (Though the battlers are awesome, I laughed so loud I accidentally woke the baby up when I saw the sunflower with the ak-74).
what was intentional but either way there isn't anything particularly bad dialogue-wise, especially since this is an early demo.
This is definately something that I've been concerned about myself. While I definately will be looking to implement better combat systems and more challenging gameplay in future games, I at minimum will correct/change a few things in Black Cat's Story in regards to the combat including-
i- Add more content, more items, weapons, armor and skills throughought the entire game
ii- Refine and balance gameplay more, including making it more challenging and increase at a linear rate.
Since I have yet to release a game, I don't want to expand the project scope too much (so that I have a realistic goal), but I will do my best to ensure combat is improved in the final release. I am learning a lot from working on this title, a lot of lessons of which I hope to reflect in a future project.
I would be happy if you could maybe answer a few questions to help me with balancing and improving the game:
1. How much money did you have when you reached the city? Did prices seem to steep (could buy very few new items)?
2. What level was each member of your party at the end of the demo?
3. Did any encounters seem much too powerful or too easy?
I understand early-combat is the major problem, since there are few skills, and very little requirement for any sort of 'tactical' combat, making combat as simple as spamming the same attack. This is something I'll do my best to rectify.
Once again, thanks for the feedback!
