Is there anyway of blending tiles in game? or is that a totally different program to create one.

I know if you press shift while placing a tile it will do some kind of blending but i'm more looking at grass going into dirt or sand, but have a proper blend within the two!

I've moved this thread to VX Ace Support. Please be sure to post your threads in the correct forum next time. Thank you.

There is already a tile which does some of that in the autotiles, but if you want more than that you have to make it yourself in an image program.

@RouletteBunnie what he means is that autotiles already blend to a certain extent. If you are not able to blend them together (you cannot blend a B tile and a C tile together for example), you should use an image manipulation program and edit the tile in the image itself. It is probably better if you take a look at how such a program works on your own so that you might understand what he is talking about.

You can find a very good, free and open source image manipulation program (GIMP) here. This is also the one I currently use, although there are also other viable alternatives if you do not particularly like this.

If you draw/edit/find some clumps of grass that you like and put them in the B tileset, then you can paste them over the edges of your dirt. You can have thicker and sparser grass or whatever you want. Make sure you draw it with a transparent background so the dirt shows though. Do you have a drawing program you can use?

Put a event with the second B-E tile as graphic and the same heigth as the original graphic in the tileset over the tile you want it to blend with.
Height's 'above' for star, 'at' for a X and 'below' for a o
(Walk behind tile, impassable tile, Walk above tile, in that order).

Note: Terrain tags, A-tiles, the 'table' mechanic, bushes and ladders are unusuable with this trick.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
