Hello all once again!! I've just completed my RM2k3 game "BlueSkies" (which you can find in my sig) and I'm now working on another BlueSkies game!! BlueSkies 2! This time, with the use of RMXP!! I must say that my very first time completing my very own RPG game with RM2k3 was such an amazing experience, in God's mercy I was able to learn alot from it!! and I'm now very excited to move to RMXP and see what I can learn with the engine as I make BlueSkies 2!! Of course, all the feedback, comments and suggestions with regards to the game is always very much appreciated!! :D

A thousand years ago, In the world of "Vyen", a very tormenting battle called the "Wars of the Magistra" took place. And magic was the tool used that led to this bloody battle. Vyen was ennshrouded in chaos, as kings and conquerors alike abused magic. When the "Wars of the Magistra" faded slowly, it left behind a trail of kingdoms claimed and palaces incinerated to the grounds.

But then, a group of religious individuals from Gemeid, rose within the ashes of war, with hopes and determination in restoring Vyen to it's former glory, The "Holy order of Gemeid" was formed. putting an end to magic once and for all, they fought under the name of Goddess Vyena, as the Holy order became a bane to all of the wizards, witches, sorcerers and warlocks.

The order was also known for their prowess in hunting and slaying demons that are found lurking around the world, meddling with human affairs.
The Holy order maintained control of Vyen from there on, killing magic users and demons on sight, for, if such beings were to roam freely, they dread that another bloody "Wars of the Magistra" would be born.

The dogmas of The "Holy order of Gemeid" was passed unto generations, living on until now. Keeping a keen eye on Vyen for magic-users and demons which speaks of unwanted danger.

lH4sdmM.png

The story circulates around the life of a young mage and healer named "Lyrelle", whom at her childhood was separated from her parents during a witch-hunt. As she grew up, she found her life in Vyen quite difficult as she now struggles knowing a religious order would rid the world of her likes. Along the way, she meets friends who are willing to share this struggle with her. But her life changed directions as conspiracies against the "Holy order of Gemeid" had risen across the lands.

Name: Lyrelle
Age: 20
Gender: Female
- Lyrelle is very innocent and a child at heart. during her years after she got separated from her parents on a witch-hunt when she was 6, she was taken cared of by her mother's personal assistant, Luna. Lyrelle grew up in Senna woods without ever seeing the outside world anymore as she was told by her care-taker, Luna, that outside of the woods lies great danger.. Now, Lyrelle spends her time in the woods, strolling about and playing with her magic... she mostly specializes in healing magic. Lyrelle also has a rare vibe around her that just makes people she meet wanna be polite towards her.

3PagReX.png

Name: Rhetz
Age: 34
Gender: Male
- Rhetz, in this current generation, is the leader of the "Holy order of Gemeid". he would stop at nothing to capture all of the magic-users around Vyen, though little is known in what he plans on doing with them since he does not seem to like executing the captured magic-users immediately. Rhetz is a wise and cunning leader of the templars and crusaders, as he is also quite secretive in his agendas...

First of all, I would like to thank God for making this release a possibility. Despite the real-life harshness that I've experienced, I was still able to finish this game and make it come to life for people to enjoy. :)

Second, I want to thank all the extremely talented people in the credit sections of this game, for , without their skills, BlueSkies 2 would never be possible. :D

Last but not the least, I really am forever grateful for the amazing people who've supported this game through their words of encouragement/inspiration, beautiful fan-art and etc.. You all know who you are. ^_^

Now, the moment that I've always dreamed of! The Full version release of BlueSkies 2!!

I've been working on this game on and off for 2 years! xD My usage time of RMXP on Steam is equals to 716 hours. Which means that this game was completed at a total time usage of 29 days over 2 years. xDD

So much for that, you may now download the Full version of the game and I hope that you all enjoy it as I did making it. ^_^ God bless you all and have a happy journey around Vyen. :D

Note: Starting with a clean-save is recommended to avoid unwanted bugs/crashes. ^_^

Outro:
I would really be happy to get the feedbacks, comments and suggestions from the RPG maker community, as these are really important in helping me develop my games, living up to my goals and promises to provide a magical, emotionally driven and immersive fantasy world in an RPG game for you all! :) Thankyou so much!! xDD

UPDATE!! Okay, BlueSkies 2 demo version 0.5 is up!! you can use your save file from previous version to continue on! but the main focus of this update was to fix the issues of missing files!! so this version is now stand-alone, which means you do not RMXP or the RTP in order to play it, I've already put all of the files necessary inside the download to play the game

The error still exists,

ok here is the save file in the attached file, when Lyrelle fight alone against turtle bos. Please check when you hit (normal damage) the turtle bos the error on your script is come up. and force you to close the game.

:) Good luck, keep the spirit, i know you can fix that.

Okay I've tried it now, and yes, there really is an error x(( hmm, omg I guess it has something to do when your party members are dead and you're all alone in battle x(

I will try to look for help regarding this, Shuya, thanks so much once again for pointing this out..

And in the meantime, for you to proceed with the game while I look for a fix. you can get 2 reviving items at the home at Senna woods, I've put a chest there, the place where you can save. :)  there's also a chest containing 5 potions at Lyrelle's house.. and a tip for the turtle boss, have Luna cast Waterball on it repeatedly, then just have Lyrelle heal alot. you should then be able to proceed! xDD

Thanks so much once again SHuya, for being able to detect these errors!!

God help, I hope this gets fixed soon x(

My Review for "BlueSkies 2", from the Review Game Thread.

As it was a demo, I planned to play all the way through, but I stopped for a reason I'll explain below - though it was not out of a lack of enjoyment for the overall experience.  For what I did play, it was fun; the gameworld felt fleshed out, I had fun learning about the characters, and I thought the gameplay itself was well planned out.

Firstly, I'd like to commend the maps.  This is what quickly stuck out to me.  They are very pretty, making wandering through something like a forest feel very enchanting.  I don't remember seeing anything that looked unfinished or bland; surprising for a game this early in its development.

As for the game itself, I am a fan of the concept.  There is a lot of potential for having the strengths/weakness via elements route, and it can allow for some good customization.  I also think it was very clever to have a character who has a spell for every element while the main one heals.  Very quickly introduces the concept and lets the player experiment to understand the game's rules.  In with the battle system I'll also say I rather like the inclusion of voice acting for the characters as they fight - to me it was just charmingly cheesy, especially with River's "We'll cross our blades in the name of dreams!"  Reminds me of one of my favorite games, Skies of Arcadia.

As for the story (spoilers ahead), I think there is a lot of potential.  I like that the main character is immediately enthralled with the first guy she meets that is remotely polite to her; seems realistic to me given her sheltered life.  I also loved the bit with the overlapped dialogue boxes, very effective.  The part about the overall story I like the most though is how the magic users are portrayed as these horrible terrorists, forcing the non-magic users to rightfully fight back and condemn them.  Flash forward a billion years and now we play as someone who is hated and sees regular people as enemies.  It creates a pretty interesting dilemma.

The only real issue I had with the story is the main lead.  It's definitely a style choice, so it's not an overall negative, but she just felt a little too "kawaii" to me - in that she'll continue to call her parents "mommy" and "daddy", amongst other dialogue.  Not a huge deal, just irked me given her age.

Last thing I'll talk about is what I mentioned in the beginning.  The reason I ended up quitting (I stopped after reaching the cave at the top of the mountain - beautiful map, by the way) is because of the enemies.  I feel that their difficulty is just a bit too steep for this early in the game.  As River, alone, fighting against three enemies ended up knocking my health down to a quarter of what I had, forcing me to escape.  Given the physical enemy placement, it then becomes a chore just to try and get around said enemies to not initiate a battle that can't really be won.  Once I got to the cave, I realized I wasn't going to have the patience to try and defeat RPG Maker sprite AI.  If these battles were balanced better, I'd definitely go back to see what's going to happen next - it's definitely an interesting plot, with a lot being set up.

I'll transfer my reply and concerns on your very wonderful and detailed review here!:

Wow Orgaya!! thanks so much for these very detailed and helpful review!! I'm very happy that you've immersed yourself within the plot of the game! I will do my best to address all of your comments and concerns!! :D

- Firstly, I am very touched that you find my maps beautiful, it's extremely humbling in my part as I am still learning it's basics and I'm happy that it payed off atleast a little!! :D

- Yes, I am actually trying to design the elemental focus with the battle system to allow control! :)  I also included the different effects of different weapon on different enemies! xDD I'm very glad you took notice of it's detail! :)

- I don't have anything to say with your comments regarding my story and characters but.. I'm just happy.. just happy!! xDD

- I will do my best to make this impression last as the story progresses on!! :)  how the main plot uncovers and how some other side-plots can uncover different things about the world of "Vyen" and how the forbidden magic-users can thrive their way. especially the development of the cast! as to me, I wish to put heart and soul always in my characters! xDD

- oh!! and I can see where you're going with how Lyrelle felt too "Kawai" haha!! xD though as I have designed her persona, I wanted her to be innocent and child-like in nature (given her isolation for years).. but don't worry, all the things that she will go through within the story and plot will make definitely her more than a "kawaii" girl. I promise you!! :D

- And yes, I understand what you mean at the mountain enemies' difficulties!! I will do my best to balance it out in my next update! thanks so much for pointing that out!! but actually, at the top of the mountain is where the demo ended, cause there's gonna be an important plot-related cut-scene there, haha!! so you're already very close at ending the demo!! xDD too bad, but haha, that's fine!! I guess the enemies were a little too harsh there!! xDD

Once again Orgaya!! Thanks so much for your very detailed and helpful review, you've allowed me to see a different perspective in my game that I haven't seen before!! :)  you've really made an amazing job in starting this event of Game reviewing!! and I wish your thread the best!

I have played the game for about one hour and fifteen minutes, and finished the short demo without feeling bored for even a bit.

Blues Skies 2 is a bit of a fairy tale themed RPG where you assume the role of a healer, in a world where the use of magic is considered a taboo. I went into the game presuming that it would have a "kawaii" feel to it from the beginning to the end, and I presumed right. Anyway, since the game is so early at it's developmental stage, I will keep the review short and precise.

Intro/First Impressions:

The game intro was executed perfectly. Neither too short, nor too long. It explained the backstory of the world, how magic came to being considered as taboo and how the guilty and innocent alike were punished because of the use of magic. Next it explained Lyrelle's backstory, how her parents had to (possibly) sacrifice themselves in order to save their daughter. All of this was executed in around five minutes or less without any wasted motion, and the choice of music was good and managed to capture the mood throughout.

Music/Voice:

The choice of music for this good was pretty good to say the least. It managed to capture the mood in every in every scene, starting from the title screen to the end of the demo. Some of it was good ol' RPGXP stock music, and the rest was custom resources.
I liked the battle voices of the characters as well, especially River. His voice set perfectly matched his "Lawful Good" crusader image that was potrayed. Luna's voice felt slightly off for me considering the fact that she is a fairy, and her voice felt the heaviest of all. But then again she was like a mother figure for Lyrelle and the personality was nothing like the stereotypical playful/naive fairy that you will come across in many games.

 Characters/Story-telling/Writing:

I really enjoyed the story-telling aspect of this game. Dialogues maintained consistency with respect to the personality of the characters throughout. Some typos were present, but the numbers were not that high and it is a game very early into the development, so it is a very trivial issue. I found the botanophilic thief to be a bit funny (and weirdly kawaii) though, even funnier when the plant obsessed dude fought on the same level as a crusader.
The game followed the basic concepts of creativity and character development pretty well. The first time I felt connected with the characters was when Lyrelle first got into the outside world, and how everything was so amazing and beautiful to her was expressed neatly with good storytelling.

Battle System:

I found the focus of elements in the battles to be pretty interesting.
However, I did find the battle system to be pretty unbalanced. I don't mind the difficulty of battles being high, but there is no actual way to get stronger as of yet. The enemies give very little exp and better equipments cannot be obtained. Especially around the last parts of the demo where you climb the mountain (forgot the name) with
River and he has to fight alone, each of the fights literally took me to the edge and I got exhausted out of potions. At that point it became just like a cat and mouse game to reach the top of the mountain.

Design (Menus, Mapping etc.):

The design of the menu is really beautiful and it fits perfectly with the game, I doubt it can get much better than what it already is.
The mapping is not bad either, it reminded me how the RTP itself is good enough for all your mapping needs in XP (sits in a corner and silently complains about not getting such aesthetically pleasing tilesets in the MV RTP). I especially liked the forest in the starting area. The mountain maps have a few tiling issues, but they are very subtle and will probably be fixed soon anyway.

Overall I will say I definitely enjoyed playing this demo to the end, and I found the the positive points about it to far outweigh the negative ones. The game has great potential, and I will surely play it again in the future.

Hello RishigangiX!! Wow!! thanks so much for your very helpful and insightful review!! you've once again opened my eyes to a different perspective on my game!! :D  I am very happy with it!! :)

Intro - I am very glad that you think it was well executed, at first I thought it was too short haha!! :D atleast your point of view gave me a little idea of how to maintain a fairly balanced execution of cut-scenes in the future ;)

Music/Voice - Haha!! I really loved using many of the RPG musics and audios that I've grown to adore ever since and re-interpret them on my own games! :D it's really nice that you see them fitting for my game, especially the characters!  :)  though I agree with you that Luna had a heavy voice for a tiny fairy haha!! xD

Characters/StoryTelling/Writing - Haha, I was really quite amused at how you found the game to feel "kawaii" from beginning to the end of the demo! xDD and I'm glad that you believe the characters maintained their consistency of persona throughout the game as I really put heart and soul to them and their very being!  :)  and yeah! I can understand what you mean by the typos present in the game! I will try to fix them in my next update! :D And haha!! don't mind that plant-obsessed thief, he is actually quite a decent fighter himself, and River is a crusader in training (you will know this upon the continuation of the story). so their battle became quite a fairly balanced one! haha!! xDD and yes, seeing into the eyes of Lyrelle and how wonderful the outside world for her was the most fun part for me! xDD thanks so much for taking note of that! :)

Battle System - I actually really agree with you on the game being too hard especially on the mountain part (as mentioned too before). And I will try to balance them out in my next update soon! :) and balance out the rest of the battles to come!! :D  thanks so much once again for your input!

Design Menu/Mapping - thankyou so much for the kind words regarding my maps and menus! Moonpearl's menu script really proved useful and costumizable to create the menu! xD I am still practicing with mapping though! especially using the right tiles on certain tile-sets that just confuses me alot! XD

Once again RishigangiX, I am really very happy with your review! and I'm glad you've seen mostly positive in my game! and I find it really warm and inspiring that you'd play it in the future if you can! :)  Now, don't hesitate to also inform me of the update of your game so that I can also enjoy it!!! :D

Update!! BlueSkies 2 demo version 1.0 is now up! xDD if you have a safe file from a previous version, simply copy your save file and paste it to the new version's folder ;)

Changes on the update:

- Fixed some minor grammatical and spelling errors/typos. (though I still don't think I've found all errors)

- Re balanced certain enemies to be more tolerable, especially the enemies at Mt. Elmoda.

- Of course: New maps and story-line scenes to explore and immerse into!

- I've made the second tier armor and weapon prices a little cheaper and affordable at early levels.

- Expect new advetures! :)

Hi Shuya!!! Wow it's always good to see you again here!! xD I really understand that you're quite busy on your work at these very times!! so don't sweat it! ;)  And woww, I would love to see any 3D graphics you can do for Lyrelle!! I would be very happy to see that come to life!! they always look so beautiful!! :D  xDD you're very talented on that Shuya! :)

And thanks so much once again for your support!! I'm always really happy to see you and your comments here! xDD :D

Oh! and unfortunately, Shuya.. the errors on the moonpearl's animated battler script haven't been fixed on that update yet x(( I still wasn't able to find help anywhere, and I am extremely clueless to how these scripts work x(( In God's name I can get help soon.. and it seems moonpearl herself (the maker of the script) is very inactive nowadays, I doubt she even received my email.. x(( *sigh*.. I really am hoping I get some help soon! but in the meantime, all we can do with the demo is to try getting around to avoid the error as stated above! X((

Thankyou so much once again Shuya!! Goodluck to you and your project too!! always looking forward ;)

Oh my gosh this looks so cute! I'll come back here when I play the demo. The main character is so cute!

EDIT:

Okay, the intro was great. I love your maps. They're pretty and detailed yet not cluttered. For some reason I also really love the window skin you use. The text was kinda odd, though. I don't know if it's an XP thing, but the solid black text instead of the usual white with a black outline looks weird to me, however this is a nitpick. The faces look really familiar...are they the XP rtp? I don't see them used a lot. They look much better than the VX/Ace/MV rtp faces to me. They fit the 2D-pixely look better imo. Gameplay wise, my only complaint is that the battles seem unbalanced. Like, the first battle I got in Lyrelle died. Glad I got those revive potions!

Anyway, I'll look forward to seeing more (and I'll play the first one - which I haven't yet).

I'm really glad you liked Lyrelle and their artwork! :D  haha, the face-sets are from Gozaru who made alot of RTP face-set remakes of his/her own! xDD And yes, I understand where you're going when it comes to the texts etc. xDD as for the battles, from what particular enemies did you have Lyrelle die with? just curious! xDD :D

And thanks so much once again for trying out the game, I'm really happy you liked the maps and the intro!! xDD I'm hoping you'll enjoy the rest of the playthrough with my 2 games! :) xDD

Evening humans! How goes the game make?
The anime characters we saw 20 years ago,
still have the same age when we see them now.
Somehow it's strange but also beautiful.
It's like no matter how much we change,
there's certain part of ourselves we can reconnect to when we see them again.
Took a long, long time, way longer than it should to be honest...but I've finally finished the big content update to my demo!
Lots of not good things happening IRL but I'm not gonna let this day end like this. Quote time:
"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." -Winston Churchill

So, keep going, lads. Whatever you do keep going. Until next time.

It's a Spanish devlog don't get scared!. (please)
