Hiya everyone.
I've been wondering if anyone knows how I can achieve a blurry edge as the one has been used in Octopath Traveler and few other games.

I've created a mockup of how the end result I want to achieve, apparently, there are no plugins or anything that can help me achieve this one (Yes this is a screenshot from the RPG Maker MV trailer)

Does anyone know how to achieve like the one shown picture above? (notice how the edge of the screen is getting blurred)

Any helps would be appreciated!

I think you could use zoomblur filter of this amazing Pixi Filter plugin to get a similar effect?

Edit- You can definitely do it by setting the "Inner-radius" of the zoomblur filter.

Wow this script worked!

though I still don't understand why the filter is brought to the battle screen,
and it's not exactly working as I imagine the blur would be (it got this wavy lens movement when my character is moving instead a still blur, I'm afraid it will cause some headache to the players?)

Still this is the closest I can get and I am thankful for that, so thank you!

You can adjust the strength of the waviness via filter parameter. Setting it to the lowest will make it less wavy and just simple blur I think.

Also, if you want to stop the filter from working inside the battle, you need to turn it off inside the battle via event command. I think Yanfly has the plugin that you can set up which event to run every battle.

I found some inspiration and have started work on a Point and Click style exploration game in a dead mall. I am hopefully going to push MZ in some unexpected directions. I always love seeing the engine do things that folks might not expect. Its good to have found some direction. Thanks for the support a few weeks back when the writers blog was hitting heavy.
Don't you want your heroes or monsters to lose some of their MAXHP or MAXMP? Don't you?
Really, why wouldn't you? :p
Yeah, it's gonna get worse after every hit they take, but so what?
Aren't they courageous fighters? Or stupidly brute mobsters?
