Howdy everyone.
Waaaaaay back in the day I used to regularly post on some rpg maker vx forums with the same username (around 2011ish). Back then I sucked at making games and everything I posted was awful but I loved doing it. It's been a few years now and I've got a bit of free time on my hands so I thought I'd take another crack at it! I'll probably just be experimenting around for a bit, but I just thought it would be cool to take a look at what other people are doing. I already recognize a few names on here from the old forum, so maybe someone here remembers me (Hopefully not though because back then everything I posted was super embarassing)?
I'm also currently studying to get a degree in illustration, with a focus in concept art so hopefully someday I can make games with the big dogs. If anyone wants to take a peek at my stuff you can find it on tumblr @generoussheepblizzard or instagram @johnlauxillus (sorry if I'm not allowed to plug my stuff, I'll take it down!).

I like all sorts, but some of my favorites are Earthbound, The Legend of Zelda Series, Every nintendo game ever made, the Bioshock series, the Fallout series, and tons of others.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
