My entry. Moving on now.

Updated version (2021, September, 26)
-Fixed Light's Blessing refunding too much MP back to Embla.
-Fixed event flow, to ensure turn end events run after all of the boss's attacks have finished processing.
-Added a deployed version of the game available for download.

Updated version (2021, October, 1)
-Fixed an issue that could sometimes make Angel of Darkness unable to use Attack command.
-Fixed Burst of Magic's bonus damage not properly resetting upon Neyel's death.
-Fixed wrong text colouring on a few of the Skills.
-Altered Skill icons on a few of the Skills.
-Altered Angel of Darkness's faceset.

Deployed version ( ~109 MB )

Here's my entry! I've always loved designing boss fights, so this was a very fun contest to work on. In particular, the harsh time limit and absence of tutorials was very interesting to work around.

 (This is literally my first RPG Maker fight where I did more than basically use a stock enemy (with maybe one or two stat tweaks), so I have only the most rudimentary of ideas about what I’m doing. I mainly jumped into this because I wanted to get at least a basic grasp on combat. …And maybe to get away from mapping on my current project for a bit. <.< >.> <.<;)

Okay, Thank the gods I managed to finish this in time.

This is my first time participating, so I wanted to make a good first impression!
However, I underestimated the timeframe greatly and had to rush at the last minutes.

Due to me starting playtesting and polishing relatively late, there may be bugs still present
in the game, but hopefully nothing gamebreaking.

Also a Disclaimer: I offer 3 different modes for battle length and I urge any Judge that intends to strictly follow the 10 minute rule to play the "Shortened" mode. Though to be fair, I put a tremendous amount of effort into my submission and I think the "Standard" experience will be worth your time!

Other than that, please have fun with my interpretation of the boss.

Edit: Actually I thought the submission was due today (got the time gaps mixed up), so I took the time to make a little update to the game, so if you already downloaded my game, you may get the updated version now. Though it does not change much so it's not a must.

Edit2: Another update, but only some fixes to faulty skill descriptions and small balance changes.

I've never participated in a game jam or competition before nor have I ever published a game before so this was very much a new experience for me.

Initially I felt the complaints regarding the 10 minutes restriction were unfounded but now that I tried to make a game myself, it is very restricting. I can beat my game in 2 minutes but my wife failed to beat it after 20 minutes so who knows how it'll go.

Whelp, here we go.
I wish I had more time to do this - and no, I don't mean the time limit. I mean me personally haha. As such, it's not a very pretty fight, visually, like some of the other submissions here :yswt:

Oh, yeah, there is a bit of a visual glitch when the boss using a specific skill. It permanently moves the boss and creates a copy of its HP bar. It doesn't impact mechanics at all. Just a visual hiccup I didn't have time to correct...sorry... >.>

My fighting mechanic is based on the Etrian Odyssey, which has creatures with several destructible pieces, each with its own unique abilities.

Granblue Fantasy is the second game that had a significant influence on my design. Enemies in that game don't have MP; instead, they charge an energy bar that fills up at the end of each play. To mitigate the battle, you have crowd control abilities similar to those seen in Etrian Odyssey.

DOWNLOAD

- Ver 0.9: Added missing sound effects to skills.
- Ver 0.8: Added animations effects to skills, tweaked some skills and their descriptions. Overall, battle mechanic didn't change. I also uploaded an encrypted version because of the paid plugins I used.
- Ver 0.7: Balancing patch
- Ver 0.6: Polished Boss AI
- Ver 0.5: Tweaked and changed some classes skills and added 1 consumable to rez a party member.
- Ver 0.4: Balancing patch
- Ver 0.3: Activated the potions for the Alchemist, I created them but didn't add to inventory. Also, I balanced the battle a bit and added battle music.
- Ver 0.2: added missing Credit.txt, discarded placeholders and tweaked the UI to be less cluttered.
- Ver 0.1 : alpha version, missing credits and forgot to remove some placeholders used for testing purpose. Need balancing.

And another universe where a few wannabe villains have been manipulated by the Obsidian Dragon into releasing it! Keep in mind that casting the right spell in a certain situation will make the rest of the battle significantly easier.

Update 10/06
I just upload an APK version in case anyone wants to test on an Android Device. The game is totally the same as the Desktop. I just changed the font size and the size of the windows to be bigger on android. Everything is the same.

My washing machine is a supernatural being. I lost a piece of clothing in there a month ago; searched up and down, inside other clothes, nothing. It just vanished.
Today, put in a new load. When I pull it out, the missing clothing is back! And a sock was sacrificed in the process :yswt2:
thought I'd upgrade to mz from mv cause of the nice quality of life features but ****ing hell why couldn't they allow old plugins to work in it and secondly how come in over a year since it's release has there been no mz version of something so crucial as a non grid based movement plugin. I guess I'll stick with mv. (why wasnt mz just an update to mv anyway literally nothing substantial changed..)
