SYNOPSIS
In a world where magic and mad science are very real, Cyd and Alyssa are two magic users tasked with helping keep people from going insane and turning into monsters. Under the names Glacialis and Phoenix Fae, they’ve helped hundreds of people help get their lives in order and serve as the first line of defense against the insanity that threatens the humanity of mages and mad scientists alike.

But that all changes when Cyd gets an unexpected phone call. He’s stunned to learn that there was an explosion in a nearby lab his girlfriend was experimenting in, and she’s been missing ever since. He soon discovers that the explosion has somehow split his girlfriend into 6 different people, each with their own unique personality and view on their relationship.

The law is clear, in order to get his girlfriend back, he must convince all of them to agree to be put back together. It’s just a little difficult when they all want to kill each other.

This game is a dating sim with 6 different people. It will likely be a game with game-play consisting of picking dialogue branches, but it may also have some parts where you may walk around and interact with items as well. That isn’t yet finalized.

Each person will have a different view of you and want a different type of relationship. They have different likes, dislikes, and needs. At this time, there are plans to have 7 different routes. One where you can convince them all to be one person again, and a route for each individual if you choose to romance them separately from the group.

This game aims to explore the common plot device of a character that is split into several sub-personalities in order to look at each part as a whole and the consequences of certain parts not being balanced. I’ve always felt that the sub-personalities are usually a bit too under-developed for my tastes. They don’t feel like people, or even a part of a person, they just feel like an adjective given form.

This game will not do that. Alyssa Jorgen is a character with complicated feelings about her relationship with Cyd. As a result, each of the sub-personalities do have a unique, complicated view of their life and their relationship with Cyd. They will act like individuals, not adjectives. But, since they are pieces of a whole, they will have awareness of the others, and will be able to know their feelings and actions at any time. If you do something to one, the others may react. And if your actions are too controversial, they may try to find permanent solutions to their problems.

CHARACTERS
Cyd.pngCyd- Stubborn and empathetic, Cyd is determined to find out what led up to the accident and how to repair his relationship with his girlfriend, no matter what it takes.

Dullyssa.pngAlyssa-Broken and apathetic, Alyssa desperately wants their humanity back, and they will do anything to get it, except let anyone know that they're not normal.
Cheerie.pngCheerie- Chipper and eager, Cheerie wants everyone to be happy, but she’s very sensitive about what people think of her.

Potential Plotlines and Explorations (Spoilers Ahead)

Literal Split Personality
Gameplay:
A. Central Story Line:
This game will have a central story line that will allow you to mostly have the same interactions with characters regardless of previous actions, unlike most romance. However, some events will check to see if a stat is high/low enough and change accordingly. For example, if Madchien is feeling as though she may murder you, she will accept your invite to dinner, but you may be poisoned at the end of it. Some events may only be unlocked if another event has been used as well, for logic reasons. For example, it wouldn't make sense if AJ mentions watching a movie with you that you two have't watched.
B. Interactions between Figments: The figments will have several scenes where they interact. This can happen both with or without the protagonist. These interactions may also have good or bad effects. For example, if you choose to stay with Alyssa for the night, they will hallucinate. If you are alone, Alyssa will only be scared and keep you from going where she thinks someone dangerous is. If you bring A.J., he will keep watch and calm Alyssa down. If you bring Cheerie, Alyssa will panic, grab Cheerie and drag her out of the house into the streets. These events may be listed later.

C. Interlinked relationships: Depending on your actions, you may receive boons and penalties to your relationship for your behavior. This can occur for multiple people, even if they are not present. For example, if you intentionally antagonize any figment, you will receive a relationship penalty with them, and you will receive a larger relationship penalty with Madchien. But if you comfort any of the figments, your relationship with them will grow along with your relationship with A.J. These relationships may be listed later.
D. Toxic Traits: Each character keeps track of a toxic trait that will trigger a bad ending if it increases too much.
-Alyssa: Neglect
-Cheerie: Insecurity
-Madchien: Resentment
-Evangeline: Shame
-A.J.: Anxiety
-Vera:
Cynicism

LGBTQ+ Influences
A. Asexual/Aro
-This game deals heavily in themes regarding the asexual spectrum. It will deal with feelings of rejection, frustration with intimacy, dishonesty in relationships, envy, and societal pressure. To help convey these themes, there will frequently be happy couples in public places, and people will talk about their relationships and ask you about yours. Although you may benefit from romantic actions with your partner, you may also have negative consequences for it.
Potential Penalties:

-If you kiss Alyssa, she will always look away from you and your relationship will have a slight penalty. If she is in a negative mood, you will sometimes have a slight penalty for touching.
-You will not receive penalties with Cheerie.
-If you try to kiss Madchien, she will hurt you. If you do it 3 times, she will kill you, unless you have caused her to not be violent, then your relationship will be irreparable.
-If you touch Evangeline, there will always be a relationship penalty and she will step away.
-A.J. will look away if kissed and your relationship will be damaged. If he's kissed 3 times, he will avoid you.

-Vera will ignore all touching unless she or another fragment's been insulted.

B.Gender
-A.J. is a transgender man. He was born a girl but is a guy. This will likely not be brought up blatantly in story unless you trigger an optional conversation between him and Cheerie. However, using any "feminine" compliments on him may slightly damage the relationship and "masculine" compliments will help the relationship.
-Cheerie is gender-fluid. Although she is usually a woman, he will sometimes be a man. If you learn about this in game and say you're okay with it, you increase your relationship and unlock an optional date with him. All compliments given to her will increase the relationship.
-Alyssa Jorgen and Alyssa are non-binary. They will use they as a pronoun and will not have a relationship increase when given "feminine" or "masculine" compliments, but this will otherwise not have an effect on gameplay.
-All other fragments are female. They do not react to how "masculine" or "feminine" a compliment is.

C. Same gender relationships
-A.J. is a man. This is a non-platonic same-gender relationship. He is one of the most physically intimate routes, and he will hold your hand, hug you, touch you, and lay with you. His relationship benefits most from being touched.
-You will frequently see signs of happy couples. Especially in public. Some of them are same gender relationships.

This section details the main plotline, figment interaction events, bonding events you can have for each character. My goal is to have at least 5 unique ones for each figment, as well as a small collection of ones you can experience with all figments in the main plotline.
Main Plotline (Not Ordered Yet)
-Anniversary Gone wrong (Before Split): You come home to a romantic dinner and find Alyssa acting strangely, having a lot of mood swings and pushing you.
-Museum visit (date available to all figments): Visit the museum and choose exhibits, different figments will bond with you more in different areas
-Vera tries to dispose of a love potion the original owned and is caught by Madchien or Evageline if either is not distracted.
-Cheerie will try to talk to Madchien and Evageline to try to help your relationship, if either has traits that are too toxic, she will fail
-Cheerie is a boy and disappears, spending the day with Madchien, when she next appears, you can unlock a date with him
-Madchien kidnaps Alyssa to take her on a boat ride.

Alyssa:
-Night visit: Spend the night with them and they will have a delusion that there is something dangerous in the house and will prevent you from going in areas until calmed or sedated (Influenced by AJ, Madchen, Vera, or Cheerie)
-Gossip: Gather information about townspeople and share it with them.

Cheerie:
-Art class: You and Cheerie can create art together in several scheduled events. This will boost your relationship and can help heal insecurities. She will also sometimes destroy her art pieces immediately afterwards for fun. (Influenced by Evangeline, Alyssa, or Vera)

Madchen:
-Job Offers: You can tell her places to go to perform job duties or go with her. She will not accept any emotional jobs, but will accept physical ones. (Influenced by Evangeline and Cheerie)
-Advice: During the hours you work, you can find Madchen and ask her for advice. If she is not feeling violent, she will offer honest tips and tell you about recent lies.

Evangeline:
-Rock analysis: Give Evangeline rocks or pictures of rocks to boost your relationship, your relationship will increase further if it has a unique look or interesting story
-Park Trip: Take Evangeline to the park and do things with her like feeding the ducks, watching some fish, or photography. This will reduce her shame and increase your relationship.
-Barrier: If asked, Evangeline can create barriers for you against both magic users and other figments. If it is against other magic users or a toxic trait is high enough, your relationship will improve. If not, your relationship will weaken and the barrier can be breached.

A.J.:
-Horror Movie Night: Every night, you can choose to watch a horror movie with AJ, choosing a movie by its' sub-genre.
-Spooky Tour: Go on a spooky tour of a haunted house, graveyard, and catacombs. This will boost AJ's self confidence and your relationship.
-Pillow Fort: If you help A.J. build a pillow fort, he will set up a bunch of will-o-wisps and spend the night in it. (Influenced by Evangeline)
-Moving Day: One of your coworkers will ask you to help him move. If you do this and invite AJ, he will accept and receive a self-confidence and relationship boost.
-Search: You can ask A.J. to come to work or ask Madchen to retrieve him to help find people or navigate mazes. He will also comfort anyone you find who is upset.

Vera:
-Invention Convention: Take Vera to a mad scientists convention. She'll become less hostile and may build new inventions.

Bad Ends:
Beware The Quiet Ones: Trigger: Do not investigate the cause of the split and/or actively ignore one or more fragments. All fragments will start to have increasingly frequent toxic moments, regardless of your actions and will begin to show deformities such as cracked skin. None of them will notice either. Continue to not address the problem, and you will wake up paralyzed on a leaky boat. There will be a cut scene of the fragments all together. One will protest leaving you to die, but Alyssa will coldly remark that they think the fragment's complained enough.

Broken Beyond Repair: Trigger: Insult any character besides Vera or Madchien repeatedly. All fragments will begin to behave oddly: seeing things, repeating things, or walking around in strange patterns. If you do not find Cheerie and calm her, they will lose verbal skills and be checked into a long term mental health facility by Vera to which you will be permanently restricted from.

Woman Scorned: Trigger: Romance a character past their breaking point and/or make any character strongly resent you. Madchien shows up at your home, having locked all the exits. The screen cuts to black and you wake up strapped onto a table with her and AJ. AJ tells her you're awake. Leading Madchien to say it's perfect and tells AJ to grab a scapel. She then tells him she'll teach him how to perform a dissection and the patient won't be needing anesthesia.

Ignorance is Bliss: Trigger: Do not address any feelings of shame and/or cause intense shame in any fragment. Whichever fragment you last hurt is seen crying. Evangeline will find them and comfort them. She will decide that Cyd is incompatible with any fragment, and will erase him from the fragment's memories, vowing that she will do the same to each of them and take them someplace better.

Paranoia: Trigger: Scare a fragment or refuse to offer any comfort. AJ will increasingly become more paranoid and keep insisting that people are evil. Should his paranoia get strong enough, he will go to Madchien. He will show up in the kitchen later and upon talking to him. He will threaten you and the screen will go dark. Alyssa and Evangeline will see a news report saying that Cyd has gone missing. Alyssa is worried but Evangeline tells her to forget all about it, which Alyssa does.

Dish Best Served Cold: Trigger: Frequently have negative interactions with fragments, but do not trigger any other bad ending. You will eat a meal, and then start feeling ill. Vera will come in and remove the meal, replacing it with a similar one, saying it's nothing personal.

Things Best Left Unsaid: If your relationship with Alyssa becomes strong enough, she will open up about her insecurities about being boring. She'll ask you if you consider her boring. If you say yes, she'll go to Evangeline for comfort who says that it's okay to be boring. When this doesn't help, Evangeline offers to make it better. All fragments will then forget about her and she will disappear from the story. You will be able to continue, but the Alyssa and reunited ending will be locked.

Dating sim + weird premise + you can probably die in it? I'm here for this type of content. Good luck! :D

@LovelyFlower Yes, I don't expect they'll be what you're traditionally thinking of in a route. My plans are ambitious, but they're tied into exploring the themes of the "Literal Split Personality" trope. Be warned. Just because you can choose to love only one aspect of someone, doesn't mean it's always good choice.

I'm guessing the happy route will be where she becomes one, and the others will be bittersweet in some way?

@LovelyFlower The one route will work out the best, providing that I can write it well enough. But each route should be at least a bit bittersweet since if you favor one aspect, the others will get hurt. But by becoming one, you have to destroy all of them, a part of literal split personality that's never explored (because each of the sub-personalities are usually either an adjective or an "evil" part).

Hopefully I can the game have enough happy moments to counterbalance it (since I hate doom and gloom games), but this game will have a lot of dark or tragic themes, like feelings of rejection, self-loathing, and shame. I'll include an overview of these themes in my next update.

Got bored and looked up recommendations for one of these threads. I realized I'd forgotten to add credits (It's in my game, but my game isn't posted so they might as well not be there), and the goals I'm headed towards in detail. I also created a set of warnings with icons. It's a bit large, but I couldn't shrink it anymore without it being unreadable.

I've been having a bit of trouble putting the finishing touches on Alyssa's screenshot (I modified the size of the map and need to readjust the doodads on it), so I've added a few details on my plans for the story so far in the section labeled potential plot-lines and explorations in the meantime.
I've worked out a vague plan on integrating the main two themes I'm exploring into both game play and story, and I'm beginning to plan how to spend time with characters. The new section will be edited as progress continues along with the goals section.

After an astoundingly long period of time, I was able to resolve some issues with the screen shot. I've also added the bad endings and some minor storyline updates.

I've created Vera's ending, added a new ending, created a new map, and animated a few kisses and death scenes.

It's been awhile since we had an update. I'm having to remove the zoo as initial rough plans were too time extensive. Attempts to create unique handholding positions did not work well. Hugs also need work to perfect. However, I was able to create a slit throat to show you guys.

It's been awhile. Sorry. I've been sick. But I've been creating maps. Right now, I've completed a botanical garden you can use for a date.

I really wish my game was far enough along for it to be actually playable beyond certain aspects. I think I've crafted a really fun battle system thanks to ATB, fighting game, and Boost point mechanics.
