Hi community,

I am pretty new to this whole RPG making thing, so I do not really understand coding and such.

I am getting this Error:

Script 'Game_Event' line 209: ArgumentError occured.

comparison of String with 1 failed

This error occured when my character wanted to leave the map (so during "map-changing" from city to forest e.g.)

I don't know why it failed, I used the normal "Transform Player..." drag and drop option and I don't use any weird codes concerning the maps.

NOTE: I was working on the game a few months ago, then I had to reinstall RPG maker and all its content, but I didn't delete the game file.

Maybe that has something to do with that? I am getting this on 2 places so far. The character can leave maps, just this 2 particular ones not.

Hope you can help

and thank you in advance for your time!

The error message basically tells you that the event interpreter encountered a command that had been changed and isn't in the correct formats.

This may be the transfer event, or it could be an autorun/parallel process on the target map or a common event in the database.

If you can't find the event (give us screenshots of all of them if you aren't sure), then we need a better error message.

Please follow the link "how to use a script" inmy signature, it also contains bughunting advice. Please follow that advice and install the backtracer, then play again until you get to this error and give us the console output of the backtracer script.

One of your variables are set to hold a String (text) instead of a number, so that can't be compared with 1.

This variable is used as a condition for one or more event(s) on the map you transfer to when the error happens.

The condition is set to "1 or above" for the event page(s).

Solutions:

- Use a different variable for your page conditions.

- Find where this variable is set to be a text and correct it (if it is not intended).

- Use a different variable for the script which sets it to a string (it is most probably a custom script, unless you used a script call to set a variable to a string - that can't be done with event commands).

Whichever you do should fix the issue.

Hey guys!

Thank you very much for your help and fast reply!

I can now understand the ErrorMessage better and know a bit where to look :)

I also looked into the scripting link!

I figured it out finally. One map overlapping event I created was wrongly linked (wrong variable used on some places).

I revised this event and it works now.

Thanks!

Don't forget, aspiring writers: Personality isn't what your characters do, it is WHY they do it.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
