Bug/Oversight: The right-click menu can sometimes go offscreen.
How to replicate the bug from a new project:
    • Set the size of the map list panel to the smallest you possibly can.
    • Right-click the map. The menu should go off of the screen.
    • It will show you the whole menu the first time, but if you repeat, you'll notice that the menu goes offscreen.
    This also affects events:
    • Set your map's size to have 256 (Max) Height.
    • Switch to Event Editing mode.
    • Now try to set the player's starting position at the very bottom of the map.
    • See how the only way to do it is to either click-drag the starting position from somewhere else, or restart MV.
Other: Here's a screenshot of the bug in action: This is also bad.png

I have this error too, and it's not resolved in the 1.5.0 version of the maker. In fact, I've reported this a few months ago with the 1.4.0 update. The only way I have to "fix" this error is by opening the "Edit" option, then agree the changes made in the map (even if you don't change anything), and finally open the right-click menu again until you have this error again.

It's a very tedious error, so I hope someone can fix this once and for all. :kaosalute:

Yeah, same here... 1.5.0 and still not fixed. :kaodes:
It should be, soon as possible. Thanks team!

How is this a bug exactly? Seems more of a windows ui issue.

It isn't a windows ui issue, as the windows context menus are designed so that the bottom of the menu can never be below the bottom of the visual screen area (unless the menu is longer than the vertical space available). Clearly the application is using its own context menus, not the windows one.

Just bumping this because this bug isn't fixed yet in the newest versions of RPG Maker MV (1.5.0 and 1.5.1), and we need a solution for this as soon as possible.

Also, I want to report that this bug happens with the right-click menu that appears in the map event layer, too. See the picture bellow:
    RPGMMV_EditorBug_007.png

And it also happens in the Database menu:
    RPGMMV_EditorBug_008.png

How long we have to wait until this is fixed? Because I'm very tired of reporting the same bugs over and over, and we cannot work comfortably in our projects because of this issues.

True this is really getting annoying for people with larger projects that can right click properly on map files in MV when the map is at the very bottom.

Surprisingly, it is not. And not only that, the worst part is that this bug was reported with the 1.4.0 version of MV and since then, it has not been fixed, neither in 1.5.0 nor in 1.5.1. I don't know if the devs were aware about this bug, but this is starting to be negligent in their part, because it was reported in July.

    Hi,

I will look into this for 1.6.0, I think I know why it is occurring but it's only a theory. Sorry for the delay in fixing it.

    Hi again,

I would like to inform you all that this issue wasn't an actual issue with MV's code itself but rather with the interface backend we use (Qt). The bug that was causing it within the interface backend was fixed at some point, and thus this should be fixed in 1.6.0 since we are looking to upgrade the version of the backend MV uses for 1.6.0. The upgrade to the backend may be delayed though past 1.6.0, due to the nature of it (we're looking at upgrading the backend 5-6 major revisions from what MV uses, bugs can show up, other stuff can break). Sorry for the delay in investigating this.

    Hey there!

    Any news on this at all, I'm using version 1.6.1 and it's still happening? Seems a shame to have such a great program to be spoilt by such a seemingly small thing ;_;

    Thanks,

    Gamalin

I can second this. It's annoying when trying to set my character starting point at the bottom right of the screen.

Due to an issue with 1.6.0 we had to roll back the Qt version used in 1.6.1, thus this bug and some others persist. I will look into ways at improving it, but there may not be a work around into fixing it due it to primarily being an issue with the engines UI framework.

The only workaround I've discovered, is temporarily adjusting my desktop screen resolution with the right click option.

My resolution is maxed out (1366x768) and it still happens. What exactly are you talking about?
