Building a new computer

I am so stoked. Its meant for gaming, so I am spending a whopping $2700 CAD on it. Super excited!

Its gonna be an 8 Core, 32 gigs of ram (I will eventually upgrade to 64), Asus - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card.

I am mostly a mac guy, I have two mac book pros and a mac mini. Generally I hate windows because it tends to always need to update and it gets bogged down after a while. I find the opposite to be true with macs. Plus as a programmer, I have always detested Windows, because when I started out, all the development companies used windows and I was like: Can we get a decent development environment, like linux?

I, as a developer, am also excited to try the new tool that windows 10 has, which is essentially ubuntu embedded in a terminal so you have access to all the linux libraries and stuff (those familiar with Cygwin will know what I mean)

Just thought I would share that I am excited for my new computer. Carry on.

Wow, that's a bit overkill for a gaming rig. I would expect that for serious music production or 3D development, but not normal gaming, haha! Still, nice build. I recently was able to upgrade to a new PC, or, at least, I will once the PSU comes in. Nothing fancy, just a simple 2c/4t Pentium G4560 @ 3.5Ghz, GTX 1050 Ti OC and 8GB RAM (16GB soon afterwards). Will be used for gaming, primarily, with Windows for a few programs and Linux as my main system. Using elementary OS because it's fast, easy to use and works very well for me, even on a potato laptop.

With that, I'm helping, or trying to, people new to RPG Maker MV that also have Linux to get set up and figure out what to do. It's a bold new world for Linux gaming these days and I love it. I honestly detest both Windows and OS X, but that's just my own personal feelings. People can like the OS they like for whatever reasons they have.

So the final specs are:

8 core, 4 ghz (overclocked) per core
32 gigs of ram
Asus - GeForce GTX 1070 8GB Video Card

Over kill? Most deff, but worth the nearly 3k I spent on it.

Jeez. I can't afford that much. I can barely afford the $500 and change I've spent for the stuff I have now and I had to buy that over several months. Really tight budget, but what I got is nice. Soon as the PSU comes in, I'm set to start. After that, SSD, new monitor, keyboard/mouse and a couple other things will be added.
